After our divorce trial my ex was awarded 1004 a month in child support and 1000 a month in alimony. I have made additional payments to her to cover Doctor appointment and medication however she is also trying to make me pay for dance supply expenses. Our kids attend an art school where their dance and music classes are considered part of their curriculum. Are these expenses covered by my child support?
Great question. In order to really answer something like this accurately, an attorney would need to review your agreement and/or court order to ascertain the language of same. Sometimes, these issues are so nuanced, that attorney's will actually do motions or requests for an "advisory opinion" from the judge in order to determine the answer to same. Alternatively, you could do something like a motion for clarification or direction from court if there is a discrepancy as to whether or not something is subject to be divided.
