I plan to apply for OPT-EAD STEM extension in Feb end. I am marrying a US citizen in mid-March and I will start the Green card filing process immediately. My current OPT EAD card ends on May 1. Is it advisable to apply for an extension or would I be able to work on marriage based work permit (after my current OPT based work permit is expired) before I get it and not have to apply for the extension?
It takes about 100 days from when you file for the marriage-based greencard before the EAD shows up. There are less than 100 days from mid-March to May 1 ... you do the math.
I suggest you talk to an attorney via Skype to work out the logistics.
