I got an order of protection domestic abuse placed on my roommate and requested to vacate our apartment on April 30th. My roommate stole the mail key upon removal from the property and I happened to be hospitalized so I was unable to be served when he contested in court which resulted in the case being dismissed. Does this mean I'm unable to leave the apartment now? Should I apply for another OFP or is the fact that I sent my notice in while the OFP was valid enough?
If you got permission from your landlord to move out because of the order for protection, you should be able to move. I suggest you contact your landlord about the situation.
