Ive lived in Southern California my whole life, 30 years. I just moved to Omaha Nebraska Oct 1st. I went from experiencing lows of 55 degrees on a bad day to highs of 40s on a good day. I love the weather here, but had no idea the dangers that also came with it. We never expected 2 weeks of -10 degree weather, especially when we decided to visit family for 10 days during Christmas.
While we were gone we did not leave the heat on. Of course when we got back and heated up the house, a pipe popped off and soaked a room on the main floor as well as the basement below it. We let our landlord know we would be leaving town for christmas (twice) and were never warned to keep the heater on. When we told her about the leak, she said to us "I should have told you to keep the heat on when you were gone".
On top of this, this was on Dec 30th. She is just now (some time this week) getting people to look at the carpet, she never got us fans to dry it out and blamed us for all problems.
Did she admit fault? Am I at fault?
Piece that you have all the term for the responsibility. I’m sure your landlord will not wake knowledge all you’ve written here.
