My ex would like to settle with me to pay me a set amount and discontinue the alimony order as I have been awarded alimony until I get married again or upon my death (married 23 years). Is there a waiting period for getting the settlement after I sign the papers? Is there anything I should look out for?
You should not do anything until you have the order from the court with the judge's signature.
