I'm seeking and attorney familiar with ADA requirements involving Government entities and access to court services. I am a disabled litigant with a cognitive disability preventing me from participating and effectively communicating in court. Thus far I have only found attorneys who specialize in employment discrimination. Can someone point me in the direction of a firm located in California with regard to filing a federal civil right/discrimination suit?
You present a fascinating legal issue, and I can see why you're having problems finding an attorney. Rather than look for disability discrimination attorneys, you want to look for either civil rights attorneys or contact a disability rights organization. Since cases like yours tend to be only profitable with the award of attorneys' fees, most lawyers shy away from them. A disabled rights organization, on the other hand, is more interested in advocacy, and would either litigate the case themselves (with in-house lawyers), or can refer you to a lawyer who litigates such cases.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not. What determines Avvo Rating?Experience & background
