Sons father hasn’t seen him in over 3 years. Only time was at a funeral Last year for his paternal grandfather. His dad doesn’t call or ask hows He doing. 2 weeks ago he texts and calls to say he wants to be a part of his sons life and tells his son he messed up. My son is almost 13 and wants nothing to do with him. My son was upset. His father pulls this all the time and only leads to heartache for my kid. He called again and my child is hesitant but I made him talk to him. Is there anything I can do or what can my sons father do.? We already have a custody and visitation order that obviously is not followed. Is there abandonment? Can he take me to court?
If there is a visitation schedule in place, the father can file a petition for enforcement of same. A modification of the access schedule may be necessary, as the situation appears to have changed dramatically.
