Receiving stolen property is always a tricky one, and is incredibly frustrating from the client's view, because often times you may not realize that the property is actually stolen. That being said, the State carries the burden of proving beyond a reasonable doubt that you either knew or had reason to believe that the subject property was stolen.

Yes, that's how that works. You "not knowing" isn't going to be a defense that will work for you. You need to hire an attorney and take care of this. It may be possible to keep you out of prison and/or keep this off your record. All of that has to be worked out on the front end though.
