I got stopped tonight, and I have a suspended or revoked drivers license. He let my parents come get the car and I both, but I did get a ticket. He said I have 2 weeks to pay it, and go to court. I looked up my state and it can be anywhere from $100 to $500 for your first offense. I'm really scared. If I got my license before court would they drop the issue of the fines? Please help, I'm making myself sick over this matter. Thank you! I'd really appreciate it!
Generally speaking, you are going to be better off by getting your license back before your court date. Many prosecutors will dismiss the ticket with costs upon proper showing that you have obtained your license. Every office is different; however, and this outcome is not guaranteed.
I agree with Mr. Jennings. Most of the municipal and district courts are usually far more interested in ensuring that drivers are properly licensed, so resolving the license issue before the court date will never hurt your case, and will often result in dismissal on costs if you can present a valid license at hearing.
