There was a weather storm advisory in affect. We are scheduled to pick up my son 2 hours away tuesday this week dad said there was a field trip during my parenting time. Talked to my son he said he wanted to come home to me. At 10am thurday morning he told me there was bad weather and did and wasnt going to meet. So I forfeited my time and not show up. Made a 4 hour trip into 10. Filed a police report but was still denied my son? Police said cause our court order say if weather is permitted... she said it wasn't cause of the winter storm warning. I drove 4 hours to his house and still could not get my son. Weather was permitted and in driveable conditions. Please advise. I love my son dearly!
That does not sound pleasant. Are the Orders issued in Arizona?
If so, I would first suggest that we seek "make-up time" from Dad. If he does not agree to something reasonable, then we can file a Petition for Enforcement, and seek make-up time and other remedies.
Also, perhaps a strongly worded letter from an experienced attorney would convince him to act more reasonably in the future.
A qualified and experienced family law attorney can of course assist you in considering your options and then getting where you need to be. Most of us offer free, ½ hour consultations, in which your matter can be discussed in detail. That would be a great opportunity to discuss the specifics of your matter and develop a plan. I would encourage you to quickly schedule this free consultation.
