I tried to buy a pair of shoes for a few hundred dollars and the guy brought an AK-47 style rifle (turned out to be a BB gun) and attempted to rob me without directly saying give me your money or anything of that nature, but he did point the gun at me and say “I’m going to shoot you.” He was a 15-year-old black male and being charged possibly with aggravate assault. And from what I understand that is a felony. And now that I’ve had time to think I don’t want this kid to go into life as a felon. I understand everybody makes mistakes and this was a mistake, I believe.
Once charges are filed with the court, it is within the county or district attorney's discretion (not the victim's choice) as to whether charges are dropped.
