Of the landlord has accepted direct rental payments from you, then you have become a co-tenant, even if your name is not on the lease. If you pay rent to your GF, and she then pays the landlord, you are probably just a subtenant.
If you are a co-tenant, the landlord can evict you, but a fellow co-tenant, such as your GF, cannot. If you are a subtenant, the master tenant would normally have the right to evict you.
