You will likely be looking at jail time for missing 2 court dates not including the underlying larceny offense so aeek a local attorney to discuss your case.

Get an attorney before that upcoming court date because you will be going to jail from that courtroom for two failures to appear. An attorney may be able to help you minimize how long

It sounds like you've been through a lot. And it's not over yet, I'm afraid. I think your main concern is staying sober. As for the charges and failures to appear, that's going to result in some jail time but maybe it will be the beginning of a new chapter. It might be worth talking to an attorney. Maybe you didn't even know about the second failure to appear? Make sure your public defender, if you have one, knows your whole story. And when all this is over, next time you want a beer, call a friend.
Roanoke City has a policy that for any petit larceny from a retailer, the first offense disposition calls for you to serve at least a weekend in jail. That is only for a first offense, second offenses carry more time, and a third or subsequent offense is considered a felony. If you missed your original court dates, it's likely that a capias was issued (that's an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court). There's more jail time for missing court. You need to either retain a local attorney or go to your court date and request that a lawyer be appointed for you.
