My two dogs got out through a gate that was left open. Found them in the yard of the neighbor on my right side. As they are coming back in, a random person points out a deceased cat in the driveway of the neighbor to my left. Since the dogs were outside, it is possible that they were involved, but that is not known for sure.
The current law in Florida is that pets are personal property. Their value is fair market value basically where there are no expenses for something like veterinary care. The love we feel for our pets is not compensable under Florida law at this time.
