It may amount to discrimination if your race, age or national origin caused said teacher to act this way. Do they do this to others who come in late? Emotional anguish is a valid form of damages. Was it a one-off incident or was there a pattern of such types of behavior? More facts needed.

If you think THAT was embarrassing, be glad you aren't going to law school. Those professors will really tear you a new one.
Anyone can sue anybody over anything... but you would be wasting time and money, and probably be even more embarrassed in the court process.
