A Washington native, John attended the University of Washington, graduating cum laude in only three years with a double major in Classics and Latin before enrolling in the University of Washington Law School, finishing school while he was still 24. In addition to his work with Wolff Defense, he serves on the Legislative Committee for the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
John has a diverse and expansive work experience as an attorney. He has worked as a prosecutor for both the Bellingham City Attorney's office as well as the King County Prosecuting office. His tenure in those offices gave him a unique perspective on how prosecutor's handle criminal offenses. He handled all types of court appearances ranging from first appearances through jury trials.
Most recently, John has worked in private practice in Seattle where he has represented hundreds of people accused of criminal offenses in municipal, district and superior court. He found his calling in criminal defense as he strongly believes in protecting the constitutional and civil rights of those accused by giving a voice to the accused and keeping a check on the government's reach.
He is a member of several organizations, including the Washington State Bar Association, Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Washington Defender Association.
Outside of the office, John maintains a professional career as a saxophone and clarinet player, having worked with artists such as Elvis Costello, Sir Mix-a-Lot, and appearing on multiple Hollywood film scores.
