Unprofessional. Not a man of his word. Will waste your time.

I hired Mr. Dean to represent me for a petty larceny case. He was supposed to send me the paperwork so he can replace my public defender. He never sent that email. I did not have the full $500 up front to retain him but I offered him $470 in cash and to pay him the rest at a later date. He complained... about $30. He told me he will speak to the prosecutor to examine the evidence and get in touch with me by 02/03/2017. So I called that following monday simce I have not heard anything back. I told the secretary that Mr. Dean was supposed to contact me that friday and he did not. I asked his secretary if Mr. Dean spoke to the prosecutor yet. She could not give me a clarified answer. She kept on making excuses for him for not being able to contact me on that friday. I told both, her and Mr. Dean, that this is a serious matter to me because it is affecting my future employment. I asked if Mr. Dean could give me 5-10 min of his day to call me to clarify on what his secretary meant. I was working in a warehouse at the time I was speaking to the secretary so because of the noise she thought I was angry with her, in which I was not. Mr. Dean went did not hear the conversation but took her word that I was being rude. He then used my past charges against me to condemn me or judge me for the person I am. Although all those charges he spoke of were dismissed or nolle prosecui, he still seem like he was judging me. He wasted my time and refunded me my money since he said I was being rude. I even offered to apologize to the secretaty fornthis misunderstanding but he wouldn't allow me. He was also cursing and trying speak to me as a parent does his child. He would not even LISTEN to my side of the story. He was vey unprofessional and if he have called to tell me he needed more time to talk to the prosecutor then I would've been okay with that. I know my opinion or comment may not pull much weight but I had to let my side ofnthe story be heard since he would notneven give me the chance to explain. I wasted time that I can not get back and have to find another lawyer on short notice. When he saw my record, I think he already had his mind of what type of person I was although he do not know the full story behind those charges. To me, a lawyer is not supposed to be judgemental to their client.

Cannot thank you enough.

My daughter, who has been extremely sheltered and homeschooled most of her life, had never been in any trouble other than simple sibling rivalry. Something possessed her to shoplift makeup. Over $200 is grand larceny, a felony in Virginia. She spent 3 terrifying days in jail. I hired Rob Dean inition...ally because he looked like a friendly face and I felt my girl would need at least one in her corner. What I got was not only that, but, a man who let me cry all over him. When we went to court, we got a horrific prosecutor, one who stood there and called my daughter, a girl she didn't know anything about "a stupid kid." She was determined to make an example of her. Even though I knew it was her job I couldn't help but become amazed at our attorney after I said that I knew she was simply doing her job. You see, underneath that friendly face was an amazing spine made of steel and his heart wanted real justice. He was genuinely outraged on my daughters behalf. He didn't feel the prosecutor was giving due diligence. He fought like a tiger for us because he could see she is truly a good girl who had made a terrible mistake in judgement. I highly HIGHLY recommend this man. He's a rare one and you can count on him every step of the way.

Son's reckless driving charge

My son got ticketed in Botetourt County for reckless driving by speed above 80. Not good. This was one week after receiving his official license from the judge in Roanoke County. I immediately began speaking with attorney friends who unfortunately aren't local. However, they gave me some advice on... searching for a good attorney. I spoke with several attorneys. I don't remember if I stumbled on Rob Dean or if he was recommended to me specifically. However, when I spoke with him, I felt like he was very kind and honest and while price wasn't my primary concern, it was very reasonable. He gave me advice on what to do to help my son achieve the best outcome. I was already doing a lot of it... like I said, I have friends who are attorneys, but his advice was consistent with the advice I had received and he offered some additional. Also, his insight into the local courts here I am sure was helpful. Throughout the process we spoke on the phone a few times and exchanged emails several times as I worked to get the various things he needed and send them his way. In the end, my son's reckless driving ticket was taken under a twelve month advisement. If my son can stay out of trouble and not receive any more tickets for twelve months, and I have no doubt he's learned his lesson, the entire thing will be dismissed. Fingers crossed. Rob Dean was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Friendly, efficien, reasonable and competent!

I was on my way to court and called Attorney Dean (whom I had never met or heard of) and this man listened to me via cell phone and at first said he didn't have enough time to prepare for my case which was that same morning, however after realizing we were headed to the same court house...he called m...e back and accepted my case (wreckless driving). I proceeded to meet him in court and it was as if we had known each other for years. He spoke with me and calmed my nerves, very thorough and very competent, then proceeded to handle my case. In conclusion, my case was de-escalated to a misdemeanor saving my points and insurance rates! I hope I never have to see him again , BUT if ever I need an Attorney...BY all means ..the man is DEAN!

Excellent legal representation and customer service

While in Virginia my elderly father was caught in a speed trap on a major highway. The Officer gave my dad a reckless driving ticket. We immediately contacted Rob's office to assist us in this matter. He was able to reduce the charge to civil disorderly driving ticket. My father was relieved he woul...d not have a misdemeanor on his record. We were very pleased with the attention and customer service we received from Rob. He is a talented attorney that knows the law and appreciates his clients. I would hire him in a second.
