After the apartment building I was living in for 6 years was sold to a new landlord (Boston's largest residential company) and my rent was increased by 50%, I hired Ed's services. He did a great job of explaining my tenants rights and what to expect in an eviction process. With Ed's help we tried to negotiate a reasonable rent increase. The negotiation wasn't successful and an eviction process began. Ed in court proceedings was extremely professional and well respected by the Judge. Ed processed all court paperwork with limited input from me. He took a very stressful situation I was in and made me very relaxed! In the end, Ed was able to negotiate a very favorable outcome. I highly recommend Ed for any tenant/landlord issues.

When my landlord unfairly withheld a portion of my security deposit and charged me an illegal cleaning fee upon moving out, I contacted Ed for help. As I was leaving Boston for the UK, I wasn't able to meet him but instead communicated via email.
Ed made the process feel stress free and seamless. I only needed to provide him with the details of the situation and occasionally attach documents ( lease agreement/ security deposit receipts etc) he requested. In the end, the case was settled in my favor and a check is now on the way. Ed was very optimistic and pleasant in all of my dealings with him and I would not hesitate to rely on his services again should the need arise.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter
I have had the pleasure of both counseling with Attorney Rice on tenant matters with the Volunteer Lawyer's Project as well as litigating against Attorney Rice. In both instances he was knowledgeable, professional, and diligent in his efforts.
