I enlisted Ms. Cochran's representation in my divorce. I found her to be extremely capable and very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to contact her again for her expertise.

Jennifer Cochran is an advocate for the underdog. She is not afraid to take on big or hard to win cases!

In December of last year, I found myself needing to file for divorce. As a person in a same-sex marriage, I knew that I might face some extraordinary legal challenges when I attempted to get a divorce in Texas. Before I met Jennifer, I made contact with over 30 attorneys in the Austin area by b...oth phone and email. Most of those attorneys told me something to the effect of "as a person in a same-sex marriage, you can't get divorced in Texas." or "sure, I will try to help you but I don't think you will win" or worse yet..."if I agree to take your case, you will need to provide a $10,000 retainer." I was devastated. No one seemed willing to take on the task of helping me or taking my case. Jennifer had a very reasonable retainer fee and even has financing plans available to help people – who otherwise couldn’t afford it – get the access they need to the legal system. I really needed a divorce and I needed an attorney to take my case and to believe in me. My chosen attorney needed to be an advocate for the rights of unrepresented people in Texas. I needed to choose wisely and to choose someone who wasn’t afraid of taking a big or hard to win case. It was important for me to find an attorney who was passionate about fighting for the rights of people who essentially have ZERO access to the law (at least the divorce laws) in Texas. Jennifer is a TRUE advocate for the underdog. My case was the first of its kind in Texas, so the amount of research and preparation for my case amounted to 14-20 hour days for my legal team and sometimes for me as well. In February of 2010, we won the very first fully granted same-sex divorce case in Texas history. In March my divorce was finalized by the Judge. Jennifer’s dedication and belief in standing up for equal rights was a critical element in the success of my case and I am eternally grateful for her for helping me achieve what seemed initially to be impossible. I would recommend Jennifer for any case and in particular if you are in an unrepresented or underrepresented group in Texas such as unmarried couples, domestic partnerships, or involved in a civil union. Jennifer Cochran cares about you as a person and wants to help, even if the circumstances are difficult or less than ideal. She is an attorney with a heart of gold – someone you can trust and count on.
