The Worse Experience
I originally came on Avvo in search of obtaining an attorney when my ex-husband filed for divorce. I met up with Cindy to discuss my case and options. It was $250 up front. Which I paid, but that did not even go towards the initial payment. That was only to discuss my case. I then had to pay anot...
I am very sorry that you feel the way you do. I believe that I give my clients excellent value for their money, and I believe that my other reviews express the clients' satisfaction with my representation. My representation of you ended over a year ago, and you made no effort to pay your final bill during the year you received the monthly invoices. Last week I informed you that I would have to file a collection action against you if you did not start making monthly payments. You wanted to take another two years to pay off your balance, and I pointed out that you had already waited a year before starting to make payments. Even so, I gave you six more months to pay the balance you owe. It is true that my initial consultations are a two hour appointment. I charge for the first hour, and the second hour is free. During that initial consultation for a divorce case I discuss all of the client's options regarding their children, division of property, allocation of debt, and spousal support issues. We run the child support guidelines, we discuss strategy, I answer all of the client's questions and I give legal advise specific to their individual situation. If I am hired, I charge against the retainer for the work I do on the case. I suspect that you similarly charge your employer for all of the work you do on your job. My philosophy has always been that I am assisting my clients during a rough part of their life, and that they get to make all of the decisions in the case after being informed of their options. I then execute the client's choices. All of my clients receive this courtesy and commitment from me. In your particular case, there were several complicating factors, and you made it very clear to me how you wanted things to be handled. I explained to you the consequences of your choices, and then I followed your instructions. You switched attorneys over a year ago, and your case is still pending. I believe this says a lot about the situation. I do wish you the very best, and it saddens me that you felt the need to retaliate against me in this way.
