Can debt collector take my unused cemetery plot ?: Bank sold my credit debt to creditors

Asked almost 2 years ago in Debt Settlement

Leon’s answer: A cemetery plot held for personal and family use is protected under California law.

However, you may have wages and other assets they may be able to go after. Talk to a bankruptcy lawyer and get educated about your legal rights.

Is National Debt Relief a good co?: Credit card debt

Asked almost 2 years ago in Debt Settlement

Leon’s answer: I suggest you find out your legal rights and stay clear of companies offering 'debt relief.'

You can educate yourself with little effort and no expense by talking with one or more bankruptcy lawyers. Most charge you nothing for a consultation with advice.

Can they go after a $200 debt with Speedy Cash from 2013? Does the statute of limitations apply in this case? : My boyfriend's mother received a voicemail from a civil litigation firm regarding a loan. My boyfriend does not recall taking out a loan but states it could have happened, this was in 2013. He reached out to the company, and they wanted to set up a payment plan. They told him they would serve him and take him to court. I have looked up the company through the Better Business Bureau and California secretary of state. The company RBG Associates LLC does not show up on BBB but shows up as terminated on the California Secretary of State website. I have checked his credit report on Credit Karma and does not show any collection inquiries.

Leon’s answer: It sounds like the phone call was a scam. I would ignore it. Debt collectors do not go to court over a $200 debt and the statute of limitations on this expired years ago.
