If a woman seperates from her husband, how can she get custody? : My husband and I seperated. We have 2 daughters, one 7 years old and one 19 months old. I moved and took my 19 month old, but my husband insisted on keeping the 7 year old. I want to know how I can go about getting custody of both of my girls where I'm living now.

Gary’s answer: First, contact a lawyer for advice on your case. You will likely have to file a matter in Court to determine the custody of both children.

How do I go about getting back my engagement ring and is it worth the trouble?: Haven't seen fiancé in 5 1/2 months. Will not return calls or social messages. Obviously it's over but can't get in touch with her to ask for the ring back. I think she is avoiding me just for that purpose, she thinks I'll just go away and she can keep the $2500.00 ring. In La. isn't there a conditional gift law.

Gary’s answer: Louisiana jurisprudence has generally found that giving an engagement ring is a conditional donation. The donation is conditioned upon the marriage. If the condition does not occur the donation is null and void. You are entitled to return of your ring. (But you may have to sue for it if she does not return it voluntarily.)
