Does the respondent need to attend the final divorce hearing in Broward?: We came to an agreed signed mediation agreement via the mediation division of the courthouse-does the respondent need to attend the final hearing as she lives in NJ? (even though at the time of the petition, she answered a counter petition)
Liliana’s answer: If you have a signed mediation agreement where all the issues have been resolved, the appearance of either the petitioner or the counter-petitioner should be enough, unless there is an order from the court that requires orherwise. If the wife wants to restore her former name she must be present though.
My brother has taken my mom for over 2 weeks. no one wants to tell me where she is and i cant talk to her.: when i call i get hung up on. is this considered kidnapping/ what do i do and who can i call?
Liliana’s answer: I agree on that more facts are needed to respond. If you suspect elderly abuse you may need to consult with an attorney in that area. A personal consultation would be best. Good luck
Is there rights for vistitation for grandparents?: my sons is in prison and i havent seen my grandson in 5 years she has allowed me to see him just recenlty and now she wants to leave the state
Liliana’s answer: Sorry to hear that. You can request visitation if it is in the best interest of the child and one of three conditions have happened: 1) The parents’ marriage has been dissolved; or 2) A parent has deserted the child; or 3) The child was born out of wedlock and the parents never marry. This is something that you should discuss with an attorney, most family lawyers offer a free initial consultation. Best of luck.
