I hired Ms Showalter for a limited entry of appearance regarding a child support modification hearing. I live out of state (roughly 1,500 miles from Missouri) and due to health conditions I simply could not attend the hearing. She treated me with nothing but dignity and respect. She kept me informed of every little detail. And she honored and complied with all of my requests.
I hired Mandy to handle my estate planning and it couldn't have been any better. At the initial consultation Mandy explained everything very clearly about how the process would work. At our next meeting, Mandy had all the required documentation completed and then explained each and every page carefully in a way that I could easily understand. I would highly recommend her for any family matter requiring a legal professional.
Child custody is the legal term that helps us understand when a child is going to be where and who is going to make what decisions for the child. The court will enter an order for child custody in both dissolution of marriage actions and paternity actions. Child custody has two sub-parts – physical custody and legal custody.
Family law is the practice of law in the areas of dissolution of marriage, legal separation, paternity, child custody, child support, guardianship, name change, and can include DFS/CD and juvenile court cases.
Probate is the legal process that provides for the orderly transfer of a decedent's property to his or her heirs (usually children and family members)– whether through the rules of intestacy or pursuant to the directions in the will. Probate also functions to determine the legitimacy of claims against the estate and insures the payment of proper claims.
A will is a legal document that tells the court how you want your property distributed among your children, your family or others. It also directs the court as to your preference for guardians for any minor children you may leave behind.
I was graduated from UMKC Law School in with honors in 2009. I was awarded the John R. Specca award for excellence in the study of family law. I am honored to have been a member of the Family Law Moot Court Team and a staff member on the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. I first began my practice by clerking for the Hon. Commissioner Sherrill Rosen in Independence, MO. This gave me a broad and firm foundation in litigation in the area of Family Law. When my clerkship ended I was privileged to practice at a boutique probate firm in the Liberty area where I learned from some of the most experienced and best known probate attorneys in the area. I was saddened when the lawyers there all retired and the firm closed, however I recognize that because of my experience at that firm I have a robust knowledge of the probate laws. Subsequently I opened my own firm, Showalter Law.
As an attorney who has been through the divorce process herself, I fully understand how emotionally challenging family law matters can be. I work hard to empower you in your time of need by fighting for your family with dignity and compassion. I value direct communication and will ensure you are always able to communicate with me. I also always provide you with candid legal advice and innovative advocacy in any type of family law or probate matter.

Support and expertise.
In a time of turmoil, Amanda's guidance was imperative to my wellbeing. I felt safe in that she knew the anawers to questions I never thought I would need to ask. She made me feel taken care of and informed in this situation where I knew none of the language and would easily have been lost without her expert advice. She was also really laidback and down to earth so I felt comfortable sharing all of my concerns with her and she always answered my questions over email or by returned phone calls very quickly. I just don't know what I would have done without her. She made a potentially long, confusing and painful process completely easy to understand, quick and painless. Thank you Amanda!

Client
Mandy showed a passion for helping and relayed all of the steps of my court process in a way that I was able to understand and accept during my initial consultation meeting. Her and her team have answered my repeated questions and represented me and my case in a honest, open manner. When I reached out for initial consultation, they were there to help guide me. I've found my attorney and legal team for now and the future.

Simplified the whole process
Mandy made a really difficult time a little easier. She was able to easily relate to me and my situation and made what seemed like a complex process relatively simple. She adhered to her promise to respond to all messages within 48 hours - which seems like a long time when things are chaotic - but she was upfront about this from our initial meeting. Her down to earth communication style made her easy to talk to, and her office staff was a pleasure to work with.

Careless about you
Soon as she received fees, she is completely ignoring you. No phone calls or email from her even ones. Only a email from her office right before court date and did not say any thing to you in court room or sitting far from me. Never discuses about case with bad attuites. It was unpleasant experience with her.

Horrible experience
All I can say about this attorney, is that I can't stop kicking myself for hiring her. Calls and emails were rarely returned, office staff was extremely rude and unprofessional, and what should have been a simple case, was drawn out for almost a year. I would not recommend this attorney to anyone.
