About me

Richard H. Foley, Jr., is a founding shareholder with the law firm of Foley & Foley, a Professional Corporation, together with his wife, Susan Behlke Foley.

Foley & Foley is a full-service estate planning law office with a commitment to excellence, integrity and superior service to its clients. Established in 1987, the firm has built a reputation as one of the pre-eminent estate, business succession, and wealth transfer planning firms in the Pacific Northwest. By listening to clients and explaining things with easy to understand language, Foley & Foley has developed the level of trust necessary to guide and empower families from around Alaska and the Lower 48 States to establish a personal and financial legacy that will pass from generation to generation to generation.

As a firm, we believe in the importance of communication between generations, working toward family harmony, and helping clients to leave a legacy that is more than just an inheritance. That is why the firm has developed a process that is devoted to exploring client goals, values, faith, and possessions. We guide our client's with clear and easy explanations about the law and estate and business planning tools. We also provide compassionate counseling related to sensitive family issues and concerns. Every client is special and unique. We make it a practice to serve client needs and goals, regardless of personal circumstances.

Originally from Illinois, Richard has an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Alaska at Fairbanks (1976). His law degree was received from Rutgers University at Camden, New Jersey, in 1981. Upon graduating from Law School, he returned to Alaska, where he has practiced law since 1981.

Richard’s background as a litigator gives him a unique ability to assist business owners and professionals with their business succession and estate planning needs. He is a frequent speaker on estate planning topics, both in Alaska and nationwide. Professional organizations, banks, brokerage firms, and community organizations have benefited from his entertaining teaching style.
