I focus my practice on immigration and citizenship law and have handled every type of immigration case, from family immigration matters to business and investor cases and citizenship applications. I am a nationally known expert on immigration and national security laws, and have testified regularly before Congressional committees on immigration, homeland security, and military matters. As a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Military Police, U.S. Army Reserve, I have extensive experience with U.S. military issues. I have also worked as a professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and have served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alaska. I was a member of the American Bar Association Commission on Immigration from 2008-2012. I regularly author articles on military-related immigration issues, and am well-versed on “parole in place” for military family members and the Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (“MAVNI”) Program. I authored the book Immigration Law & the Military, which was published by the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 2012. On September 25, 2013, I was named a 2013 MacArthur Fellow by the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

Expectional attorney with great knowledge and experience
I have been to couple of lawyers for consultation before I decided to visit attorney stock for consultation about my asylum case, second day I decided to hire her for my asylum case as she deomostrated professional attitude and showed deep knowledge in the immigration field, but most important she set the expectation right from the beginning. The last was very important factor for my deciding to hire her. Attorney stock and her team handled my case with care and they paid attention to the minor details and helped me through the case preperation. Few months after we filed my case my work transferred me from Anchorage to Houston Texas. When the interview time come 15 months after the filing date, attorney stock flew all the way down to Houston one day before the interview to prepare for my interview, I have to admit it was a very thorough session which helped me a lot during the actual interview in the next day. When we entered the USCIS office, everybody showed respect to her which gave me a lot of confidence, even the immigration officer mentioned that I am lucky to have attorney stock as my lawyer , indeed she ( the officer) was right. The interview went smooth and attorney stock interviend when needed. Yesterday she called me to give me the wonderful news that I have been approved as asylee in the United States and a day after I received the communication from USCIS confirming that. me and my wife were so lucky to have her as our lawyer and I thank her and her responsive team from my heart for the hard and professional work .

Outstanding Experience with Attorney Margaret Stock and her staff
Attorney Margaret Stock was highly recommended and endorsed to us by another immigration lawyer from state of Illinois due to the urgency of my brother’s complicated legal situation and we were assured that she will be the best lawyer, who is very competent and very knowledgeable, in the field of military immigration laws, and one who can help us. During our initial consultation with her, she already presented to us the “Big picture” of what the process is going to be like, what forms are needed to be prepared and all that. She was very clear and thorough with her explanations. In less than 24 hours, she communicated to us that she was able to obtain an alien # for my brother concerned in this case. Already we have seen how professionally competent and diligent she is. She helped us through every step of the process until the end. For only a period of 2 months, my brother finally got his US citizenship just in time for Veterans Day. Even with the time difference we have between Alaska and Florida, it is indeed a huge sacrifice for her to get up early for a scheduled USCIS interview for my brother. We are very thankful and highly appreciative of all that she had done for us and also very thankful for her staff members who helped us in the process. Attorney Margaret Stock is one of a kind, who goes far and beyond helping others towards their goal. We highly recommend Attorney Margaret Stock.

Amazing services
My lawyers Reux Stearns and Margaret are exceptionally great at what they do. I was placed in removal proceedings and they reverse that situation for me. it took a lot of hours in preparing my case, interviews etc. They were supportive and was there for me throughout the process, and the good news is "I am still in the USA and I just became a citizen in 09/09/2022". Switching lawyers was the BEST decision i ever made. After going through two lawyers who didn't know how to handle my case, I finally found Margaret and her team. They are second best to NONE. I will forever be grateful. Finally living my American Dream!.

One of the best indicators of a competent and dedicated immigration attorney is their willingness to take on challenging cases
We hired Attorney Stock to help us file an I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, N-400, Application for Naturalization, and other forms. Before meeting Attorney Margaret Stock, my husband and I worked with two prior attorneys. Both attorneys were unable to help us with our case. However, when we met with Attorney Stock, our difficult case did not deter her from helping us. At the time, I was a U.S. citizen and in the military. Our case was difficult because my husband was accused of a false claim to U.S. citizenship. Still, thanks to Attorney Stock's extensive military experience and expertise in immigration and national security laws, we obtained my husband's citizenship. Even after moving out of Alaska, Attorney Stock was still able to help us, and not once did I doubt her ability.

Margret Stock vs lawyers
Denied cases are all alike; every approved case is approved in its own way. I think that all denied cases alike fail because they process only with vague desires. On the other hand, each successful cases succeed in its own way because they process professionally after analyzing their own situation accurately. My case was the one. Margret Stock and I applied for EB2 NIW based on MAVNI, and this rare case was approved. It’s a very difficult case for most lawyers because it required professional legal knowledge, experience, and know-how for military and immigration. Attorney Stock was ready to do and handled every crisis very well. For example, my biggest crisis was Request for Evidence (RFE) for I-140 which required why I am qualified to get the approval. She wrote an excellent letter and resolved it. At the beginning of this feedback, I adapted “Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way”, the opening line of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. If you think why some unhappy things happen only to you and believe your situation is so tangled up, contact her. She is the right person to do right things for your case. I would totally recommend her in a heartbeat. Great job, Margret. You’re the best lawyer!

Helped us quickly and efficiently to adjust status and receive our Green Card
Margaret and her team at Cascadia are very knowledgable with immigration issues. She helped us feel comfortable and reassured during the whole process which lasted about 10 months from the time we first contacted her about changing our immigration status from tourist to permanent resident until the time we received the Green Card. Though we had done some research and considered trying to do this work on our own, there were many additional forms and methods for completing this process that Cascadia helped us with and ensured that the immigration process went as quickly and smoothly as possible. We thank Margaret and everyone at Cascadia for their help and would be happy to recommend them to anyone going through the immigration process.

Attorney Stock is an EXCELLENT lawyer!
My children and I moved to the US in 2019 as I met my husband here and got married. After not getting any closer to the green card in 1.5 years of submitting documents, I realized that we need help from a knowledgeable person. It turned out that it was necessary to present different applications for my children I did not know about. At first my husband and I came for consultation and were given so much extra helpful information. But the most important feeling I’ve got from my attorney - confidence - she not only knows immigration law, but she loves it and she definitely enjoys being a lawyer. This is kind of expert I want to have by my side. Communication was fast and clear, all the staff was extremely welcoming and supportive. I am grateful to attorney Stock for her job and for getting us to the point of receiving green cards smoothly and confidently. I would definitely recommend working with her. Also, I bet many people might be “on hold” because of the hourly charges of $500 per hour. However, our bill was more than reasonable because other lawyers ($250 per hour) or paralegals ($75 per hour) In the office are working on the documents too. I am very grateful for provided legal services and the outcome my family received.

Par Excellence!!
Growing up I have been bedeviled by behavioral problems which at times drew the attention of law enforcement. It was reasonable to expect that my petition for naturalization could not be decided without close scrutiny of my history. A case such as mine called for representation by a law firm staffed by experienced immigration attorneys who are knowledgeable, hard-hitting, tough-as-nails, resourceful and unafraid of the ton of research and legal briefs necessary to be highly effective advocates. I chanced upon an interview on the radio in 2017 or 2018 of a Lt Col (Rtd) Margaret Stock by an NPR correspondent. I picked up on the fact that the Colonel was also at one time, a West Point professor and an Immigration Attorney based out of Anchorage Alaska. She had spearheaded a program named MAVNI a few years before, during the Bush administration, to recruit legal non-immigrants possessing foreign language and/or medical skills into the military. Recruits were promised a fast track to citizenship at the end of their tours of duty. Attorney Stock was expressing dismay to the interviewer at efforts of the then administration to put obstacles in the path of deserving members of the military to get citizenship. My first impressions of Attorney Stock then was that she is a compassionate, principled person and a woman of great integrity who does not countenance injustice and is not afraid to speak up. I decided to look her up online and to seek representation. It took a few months for me to summon the nerve to call. But eventually I did. Attorney Stock agreed to take on my case after a prequalification interview. When fact finding commenced, no stone was left unturned over several months in completing the daunting task of meticulously assembling a mountain of supporting documentation - some decades old - which was to be submitted with my N-400 application. An immigration firm must of necessity possess considerable resources and reach in order to meet the challenges of such a burden. Cascadia Cross-Border Law is such a firm. It was a disappointment when the N-400 petition was initially denied. However, why would I have retained counsel if I hadn’t considered this a distinct possibility? Attorney Stock and her very able associate Attorney Stearns took the denial in stride and wasted no time regrouping to strategize the best way forward. Attorney Stock assured me that all would be well eventually - that the setback could and would be overcome on legal grounds. With that, a masterfully crafted legal brief was prepared to launch an appeal at an N-336 hearing. The case was so impressively argued that the hearing USCIS officer would have had to be impervious to reason or willfully dismissive of the law to rule against us. Even though my admission for permanent residency decades prior was brought into question at the hearing, it was insufficient to overcome our robust argument in urging a reversal of the N-400 denial. Our case had merit and was rock solid. Weeks later, we learned that the denial had indeed been overturned . I was scheduled to take the Oath of Allegiance at a naturalization ceremony. Against considerable odds, the very fine Attorneys and staff of Cascadia Cross-Border Law under the leadership of Attorney Stock, had successfully navigated treacherous waters and secured citizenship for a very , very grateful immigrant. I have since discovered that Attorney Stock is one of the nation’s foremost immigration experts and is frequently sought after as an expert witness by Congress. Dear immigrant, if your case is hopeless, Cascadia Cross-Border Law possesses the integrity to tell it to you like it is, and suggest an alternate path. If there’s reason to be hopeful, and there’s a path forward despite difficult circumstances, you cannot do better than to retain Cascadia Cross-Border Law and the inimitable Attorney Margaret Stock to fight your fight. I rest my case.

Margaret is an excellent attorney. She helped my stepfather get a green card after we received a denial notice from the Immigration Services. She is easy to work with and always responds promptly to all emails. We had a fantastic experience working with her and her team. Best attorney you can ever find
Attorney Stock helped me with my naturalization case, which was denied twice before. Needless to say that this time around everything went smoothly and I was sworn in as a citizen on the same day as my interview. Attorney Stock is highly professional, very detail oriented, and your best advocate. If one is lucky enough to be represented by attorney Stock, she will get you the best possible results depending on specifics of the case. I would highly recommend her.

Looking for immigration lawyer? You are at the right place!
I had my EB2, N400, and my wife's green card cases completed through MS Stock's law firm. We are completely satisfied with the professional service. The content, format, language of all the legal paperwork was methodical and concise. The lawyer will work together and keep in close communication with you during the entire case duration. It is the best decision that we let MS Stock’s firm sort out our legal status and handle our immigration cases.

ATTORNEY STOCK - MODEL OF EXCELLENCE
Attorney Stock acted on my behalf as immigration lawyer. She successfully helped me navigate USCIS to obtain my citizenship in 2019. While I believe my own application for citizenship was relatively straightforward, Attorney Stocks expertise and experience really came into its own while helping achieve permanent residence for my son. My son Daniel submitted his paperwork for citizenship in February 2020 under the backdrop of needing to achieve this by the middle of June of the same year. In any "normal" year this would have been relatively straightforward but Covid 19 shut down USCIS from early March until the 4th of June. As I understand, no applications were processed by USCIS during that shutdown. With only a few days before the mid June deadline, Attorney Stock miraculously influenced the system to deliver a successful outcome for Daniel. What she achieved was nothing short of outstanding. In the 2 to 3 years I have been working with Attorney Stock I have found her to be very approachable. She is extremely pragmatic and down to earth and always does what she says she will do. She has a profound knowledge of the immigration system and her acute attention to detail while navigating that system ensures success. I have no doubt, had it not been for Attorney Stock, neither I nor my son Daniel would be proud American Citizens today. I STRONGLY recommend Attorney Stock for all immigration matters.
