Mr. Baumgarten advised and defended my son in proceedings brought against him by another individual in two settings, including the local court system. He had experience working with students, was considerate of my input but directed the decision-making to my son, kept us both informed, wrote a superb... brief to the court , appealing one decision that had been rendered - in short, he gave us support and excellent advice all along the way. Luke was very accommodating, flexible, and genuine. The first thing that drew my eye was that he was a former prosecutor. He helped me defend my record by negotiating with the prosecutor eventually getting them to drop charges due to a lack of evidence. The first thing I can say about Luke Baumgarten is that he genuinely cares about each and every one of his clients. He has an amazing ability to weed through all the legal jargon and find the small details that can build a workable defense. He found one small, improperly executed procedure in the police report of my case that was enough to have my administrative case by the DOL dismissed. This same detail was also enough to convince the prosecutor that my blood sample results would likely be inadmissible in a trial and therefore Luke was able to negotiate to reduce what could have been a very serious second DUI to a Negligent Driving I. Because my case lasted so long, I got to know Luke as more than an attorney. He is a caring compassionate man, who puts high value on family, integrity and people in general. He is dedicated to his profession and his clients and does his very best to be supportive and encouraging, while at the same time, is realistic and honest. At the conclusion of my court appearance and sentencing, I realized that over the past year, Luke had become my safe port in a storm and the only sadness I had that the case had come to an end, was that I was going to lose touch with him and I would miss him and the encouragement and support he has given me throughout. Though he tells me I would have been fine without him, I do not agree with that. From my first phone conversation with him, I never doubted that Luke knew exactly what he was doing. I had complete faith and trust in him and I knew that as long as I listened to his advice and followed his recommendations, my bad situation would turn out the best way that it possibly could, and that is exactly what happened. In a day and age when many attorneys can be viewed in a bad light, I can honestly say that I have never heard anything negative about Luke from other clients, law enforcement, probation officers, treatment facilitators or members of the judicial system. Getting a phone call on a Sunday morning and having your child on the other end sobbing uncontrolably as my Child had never received a speeding ticket in the 1st 5 years of driving but was now facing an MIC charge. Honestly I have never been put in a situation where I would need a lawyer and was very concerned on who I would find. Being in a small town had me worried on my options. I could not have found a better Lawyer than Luke. He was always there when I had questions and was very concerned for my sake.
