Joel Matteson is in-house counsel for Barlean's, a dietary supplement manufacturing company in northern Washington with a global distribution. Joel's wide-ranging legal practice includes contract drafting and negotiation, employment law, regulatory law, litigation, and intellectual property.
Joel is honored to serve as one of four Washington State Bar Association delegates to the American Bar Association House of Delegates (2016-18), is an alternate to the Washington State Bar Association's Amicus Curiae Committee, is a former editor of De Novo, the official magazine of the Washington State Bar's Young Lawyer Division, and is a past member of the Washington State Bar's Young Lawyer Committee.
In addition to his full-time legal practice as corporate counsel, Joel is pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in intellectual property from the University of Washington School of Law. Joel received his Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego where he received the CALI Award in Jurisprudence. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
Joel enjoys running, sports, and reading. He lives in northern Washington with his wife, Katie, daughter, Sophie, sons, Jack and Ian, and Labrador retriever, Lucy.
