Would not recommend for first time offenses- stressful to work with and disrespectful interactions. Poor communication

It was my first offense, a hit and run of an unattended vehicle. David represented me. I moved from Bellingham back to Oregon and knew I would need to attend several court dates in Washington. We ended up needing to settle with the prosecutor and get a signed and returned document proving the prosecu...tor had been compensated. I sent a $500 money order which was leverage for the prosecutor to sign the documents we needed to move forward to prove they were compensated. David did not inform me of when he received this money order, or when he sent it to the prosecutor, even though he was asked to. It is a bit nerve wrecking to have a $500 money order out there and not know where it is. One night before one of my court dates, I was trying to figure out if I needed to make a 7 hour drive in the middle of the work week up to Bellingham to attend court. It wasn't until a friend suggested asking my attorney and the court if it was necessary for me to be there, did I think to ask if the daunting and ridiculous trip was necessary. David had not kept me up to date on whether we had received mail in return from the prosecutor until 5 pm that night when the day's mail did not include a letter from the prosecutor. He also mentioned he would not be able to inform me until potentially the next day because he turns his work phone off at 6 and had a meeting from 4-6. He informed me I could check with the office to see if I needed to make the drive. I called and called the office, a bit frantic to see if I needed to get in my car and drive 7 hours and find a place to stay after working an 8 hour work day that day and drive back the next day after court. His office staff was also rude and unhelpful. I could not believe I was going to get little to NO notice about this trip- and David seemed not to care about adequately preparing me for the next day. I ended up not having to drive, but not being informed of this until 6-6:30 at night. One day- a few days after our court date, I got a call from David's office asking for his next payment- $500 a court date. I mentioned I was not willing to pay David until I got an update about where the money order was and the status of retrieving documents from the prosecutor. When I mentioned to David I wished he would have been more on top of updating me- he played some strange blame- games where he made me feel very belittled for not being more familiar with the orders of law, and assured me that there is no way he could be at fault for anything because his work is exceptional and basically bickered over the phone for an hour until I felt the need to compliment him on the work he has done so far just so I wouldn't loose money I had put into hiring this lawyer. Overall the conversation seemed very emotional and inappropriate considering I am a 25 year old woman and this is my first offense with truly no experience in court. After this strange phone interaction- Davis said he had in fact heard from the prosecutor. If David had been diligent in retrieving the signed documents from the prosecutor I would have been able to settle this in the previous court date. However, since I was not getting updated about the prosecutors response, I wondered if David intentionally did not move things along quickly, because he was indeed, getting paid $500 per court date. At the final court date, everything was settled and I was pleased I was not convicted of a hit and run. I was told the case was dismissed and could not be reopened. David told me my record was clean! I was very happy. A few weeks later, I am applying for a job which required a background check, and there it is. The hit and run of an ATTENDED vehicle- dismissed! I asked David why this was on my record, he informed me there is a thing called "sealing" the record which he has known about and knows how to do, though is unwilling to do. He said further explaining was not worth his words and told me his work is excellent. Overall, big ego and I never felt respected.

I think this is the first time an attorney has received a negative review for a successful DISMISSAL of a criminal charge.  It is very important to stress, and confirmed in your review, the serious criminal matter for which I was hired and contracted, was DISMISSED as a result of significant and difficult legal work. Let me start with an important response: Many of your comments are simply not true and in fact are, fictional. Additionally, many of your negative comments are regarding an area of law I do not practice and was never contracted to perform. If you require any proof or affirmation of my rebuttal or further clarification, I am happy to share with you the contents of your file, should you remain confused. As much as I would like to specifically respond to your comments and criticism, I am prohibited from doing so. According to the Rules of Professional Conduct 1.6 with the Washington State Bar Association, I am not permitted to reveal specific information relating to the representation and communication of a client. Further, I did consult with the Ethics Department with the Washington State Bar Association for their advice, and they confirmed that I cannot specifically make any comments regarding our representation, facts of the case or communication. I agree with this ethical rule and believe that ethics must prevail over my ability to properly defend myself in this forum, even though this creates a very one-sided, skewed and frankly, unfair situation. To be honest, it is very frustrating that you may publicly post whatever you like (true or not) and I am unable to specifically defend myself in this review. However, do not accept this restriction and my inability to specifically comment as affirmation that your statements are fair and accurate. They are clearly neither! At the end of the day, I am proud of my staff for their level of professionalism despite the difficult conditions presented. Never a bad word has been spoken or communication inappropriate or delayed. I am also proud of my work and the final result, the very best result possible in a court of law – a DISMISSAL. It is concerning and troubling that in this age of social media and keyboard bullies, individuals have carte blanche to make appalling and inaccurate statements without recourse. I think it right that I end my reply with an ACCURATE summary of your review: If you want your case dismissed, hire David Jolly. If you require a legal service that David Jolly does not provide, hire another lawyer. I think I can live with that.

Case Dismissed!!

Thank you to the Team at David Jolly Law Firm. I had never been in trouble so it was really scary. David returned my call on a Sunday and met me on Monday morning. He quoted me the lowest retainer and a payment plan and was the only lawyer to give me helpful guides. His staff was great too. 6 months... later the State dismissed my case. Me and my whole family can not recommend him enough as we are also so happy this case is over and there is no conviction. Thank you thank you so much.

Best Law Firm and Great Result

I got a DUI several months ago. My case was in Bellingham and after my first court date I called the Jolly Law Firm. I met with David and was impressed with him and his assistant. I ended up meeting with two other lawyers but quickly called back David and hired him. He had my DUI reduced to a much le...ss serious offense and no probation and no jail. I cannot say enough about the whole fire. I am really thankful. HIRE HIM!

Life saver!

David Jolly literally saved my life!! I had two charges against me, and the victim wasn’t willing to be on my side either. Will David’s help, BOTH my charges were dismissed! I don’t think any other attorney could compare to him. He’s compassionate, listens, and is always on your side. 100/10 recommen...ded. I would likely have two charges on my history without the help from this skilled man. Thank you David, god bless your soul.

I'm sorry it took so long to comment - wow, great comments and very much appreciated. It was a roller-coaster, wasn't it? A dismissal was always the objective and we're so glad it happened - you deserved it. We all want to wish you well in what is, a very bright future!!
