About me

Nicole received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from Washington State University and earned her law degree from Seattle University School of Law in 2007.  She has been in private practice since 2010 with her practice focused exclusively in family and child welfare law.  Prior to entering private practice, she served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Washington, and earned the Excellence Award for her performance.   In 2014, Nicole was ranked by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys as one of the Top 10 under 40 for excellence in the field of Family Law; and in 2015, she was ranked by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel in the Nation’s Top One Percent.  Nicole has served as a Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem (VGAL) for Snohomish County and currently serves as a Pro Tempore Commissioner and Judge in Snohomish County.  Nicole’s particular interests and background include litigation experience with regard to child custody disputes and .191 restrictions such as alcohol abuse, drug abuse, domestic violence, and child neglect cases, although she is equally comfortable being involved in less contentious, or even agreed, matters. In addition to her skills as a trial attorney and advocate for her clients, Nicole has been trained in and works as a mediator in family law cases.  Nicole practices in both King and Snohomish Counties.  She is a member of the King County Bar Association and serves as the Vice Chair for the Family Law Section.  She is also a member of the Washington State Bar Association and Snohomish County Bar Association.

  • Nicole B Chafetz

I endorse this lawyer. It is great having an "in" with the system. Since Nicole worked as an assistant attorney general for The State of Washington in hundreds of child welfare matters, she knows the law of these cases backwards and forward. Her reputation in the community is spotless and she is a tireless advocate.
