I found Mr. Stern after having had another lawyer start my case. Once Mr. Stern took over my case it was a whole different kind of representation, the good kind. I am very pleased with Mr. Stern and thankful I found him.

Marc Stern handled our bankruptcy Chapter 13 very efficiently. We had a problem because of a prior lien on our home and our home was in foreclosure and our home was being sold, all at the same time. Marc provided a solution to allow us to complete the sale, be relieved of an unfair old debt and retrieve our equity. Marc really knows his stuff and we are very happy with his professional services. I would recommend Marc Stern to friends in the future.

I can best describe his conduct as being like dealing with a hurricane. From day one after I handed him a retainer all aspect of his work ethics and bloated ego only served to add to his bottom line, making as much money as he could get away with after creating as much damage as he could in his favor and for the interest of billing as much as possible, it was like a nightmare as he swept into my financial life and without much warning came at me from all different directions, he carried out with maneuvers I was not made aware of (shorting my mortgage company, I guess as a matter of principle but never confirmed to be so) I only asked him to take a look at it, and after much effort and cost to me, it became very clear it did not make sense trying to recover $200 in questionable fees from that mortgage company only to be billed from both him and their lawyers in excess of $8000.00 I have no doubt it made little sense mathomaticlly to pursue this course of action, and it was surely within reason for me to believe he would not do so if he was acting in my best interest. One fly by visit from someone familiar with these type of tactics and it would have been declared a disaster
He charged off of my bankruptcy case held by the trustees of the court and failed to notifyme of billings to my account, his bookkeeper rudely informed me over the phone that theywere not required to inform me, what should have been $1900.00 as quoted by him in the first place cost me more than $10,000. for him to handle my case and after much frustration (even in finding out the smallest of details they would eventually share with me over the phone) In trying to understand why and what they were doing, they billed me for countless hours as paralegal fees. One growing mountain constructed from the smallest of mole hills.
Well after creating the mortgage mess without my consent in the first place he had the gall to suggest he saved me money in the end by getting them to reduce their lawyer fees for having to dig up every shred of information they could find as requested by him, The same stack of information I'm sure he had no real knowledge of what they contained as I believe he never actually read them, only served as a prop for the judge he had to answer to as I asked him to explain himself in court for his actions as he then held this stack up and commented, "you see what I have had to deal with your honor" His defense for this supported by the opposing lawyer who was there in court to confirm they were battling it out. The whole point being, it was a lost cause for me from the very begining and he knew it. And it wasn't just the money that bothered me the most, it was what someone like him cannot even begin to consider.
The time all of this maneuvering cost me in the end and the major effect it had on my personal life. This lawyer owes me back fees in excess of $4000.00 and thats being generous on my part. I have asked and received no answers from him as of this date. 1/8/2008

Relationship: Worked together on matter
I endorse this lawyer. I have known Marc soon after I started my law practice and he is a dear friend. We worked together on several projects for the Washington State Bar Association. We have worked together on several cases and he has been kind enough to advise me on bankruptcy and debt matters. He is extremely knowlegeable on those matters and very ethical too.
