Jail on 1st Offense

I hired James for my first criminal offense, a DUI no blow. My case had no particularly unique facts, but I ended up losing my license for a year and spent a total of 36 hrs, including 24 straight hours in jail. James told me "There's a 99% chance you won't go to jail.". I have no idea if he was... full of it or if I just got unlucky. What I do know is that I paid $4500 to go to jail and lose my license for a year, which was really terrible. REALLY terrible. It seems James' attorneys' strategy failed: he never was able to get a hold of the Prosecutor to bargain. I had several continuances and it was pretty clear my attorney, Carl, Linda, whoever there was there that day, was just finally talking to the Prosecutor about my case right on the spot. In other words, on the criminal side, it's not clear to me James' attorneys did ANY work other than to show up (when other clients of there's were there too), and try to get a 5 second word with the prosecutor. I ended up pleading to reckless and got JAIL. My understanding is this is a strange result. So I got unlucky, or, again, James failed.

James told me "There's a 99% chance you won't go to jail." That is simply UNTRUE. No lawyer of any experience would make that kind of promise for a person charged with DUI Refusal where a conviction as charged results in a mandatory 2 day jail penalty. While I can opine about statistical chances of reductions based on over 1,000 past DUI defenses (and there was a substantial reduction here), I certainly don't guess about jail, because there are multiple variables (prosecutor, judge, client's compliance with court conditions). So the reviewer is either being untruthful or does not recall what I ever said. I stand behind the two-step reduction from a DUI refusal to a non-DUI as being reasonable depending on circumstances.

Testimonial

I was involved in an accident in which the other driver made false accusations that resulted in citations and misdemeanor charges. I contacted James Egan and had a very informative initial no cost interview over the phone. I could tell immediately that he had an experienced team that had the expert...ise in the local court that would handle the case. For that reason I retained them at a reasonable fee that I knew in advance would take me through the whole process. It was good knowing up front what the cost would be. It turned out to be worth every penny; his team handled every detail, always returned my calls promptly and answered all my questions. The charges were dropped, and I avoided a possible year suspended license and large fine. I could not have been more pleased with the outcome. The whole experience was very assuring during a difficult time. I would not hesitate to refer anyone in need of legal help to "my legal team", the law offices of James Egan.

Money well spent!

After being arrested on my first DUI ever with a .11 BAC, I was stunned and had so many questions. I was so glad to have had the immediate advice of James Egan’s legal team. They took immediate steps to preserve evidence and ultimately beat my license suspension on a legal technicality. Then, when... the criminal case was filed, they used their resources and energies to help avoid a DUI, license suspension, actual jail time, probation and fines. They are an accomplished, confident team. I would recommend them to any friend in that unfortunate circumstance, any day! The fees were reasonable and money well spent! -Martin Teeg, Seattle

Got a DUI? look no further than these guys!

Cops claimed I almost ran into their police car after I'd been drinking a lot. Since I refused the breath test I was looking at mandatory jail, a year suspension and huge fines. James Egan's legal team took my case at a low rate and gave me a payment plan; thanks! They subpoenaed the BAC room ...video and used it to win my DOL hearing by arguing the officers never offered me a BAC test. Then my lawyers papered the prosecutor with written motions about evidence they would lose at a judge trial. Their expert work resulted in a Neg 1, with no jail, no license suspension, no SR-22 insurance, no ignition interlock device, low fines and no traffic ticket!
