I had a terrible experience with Mr. Linville and I am happy to have this opportunity to share my thoughts.
I am a small business owner. A client of mine had an overdue bill for $4,500. She sent me a letter enclosing a check for half that amount, and refused to pay more. I deposited the check and called Mr. Linville to find out if there was anything I could do to force the client to pay the balance. I told him I had received a check for partial payment along with a cover letter.
He enthusiastically suggested that we file a lien on my client's house. He asked to see the cover letter, but before I could get him a copy he proceeded to file the lien that same day. He seemed to be in quite a rush.
It turns out that the lien was improperly filed because the cover letter from my client included a statement that the enclosed check was "payment in full." When we learned this Mr. Linville withdrew the lien, but insisted that I pay him $600 for his time and filing fees. I politely explained that I did not think it was fair to expect me to pay that amount, because I had depended on him to tell me what my legal rights were before taking action on my behalf, and he had not even bothered to read the cover letter (or even ask me what it said) before filing the lien. He sternly lectured me about how it was my responsibility to understand the legal implications of the partial payment and "payment in full" clause in the cover letter (which he never bothered to read). He insists that it is not his job to "inquire" into the basis of his clients' claims before filing liens on their behalf.
I offered to pay half of his bill to be done with the matter, but he refused and instead sued me in small claims court for the whole amount, plus interest.
In short, when I first contacted Mr. Linville I was looking for advice as to what my legal rights were. He thinks it was my responsibility to know my rights before calling him.
This has been a very bad experience and I would strongly recommend that other business owners look elsewhere if they want an attorney who is careful, asks appropriate questions, and doesn't blame his clients for his own oversights.

Hiring a lawyer to resolve a dispute with our contractor regarding the horrible installation of our bamboo flooring was a last resort, and the absolute last thing we wanted to do. David Linville helped us resolve the process as quickly and as painless as possible (though the process was still somewhat painful, of course). He knew the law well, and did not waste time. He was succinct and professional. We had consulted with another lawyer specializing in the same thing, but I am so glad we went with Mr. Linville, as he knew what we should ask for and how to go about doing it. I am convinced any other route would have been quite a bit more costly. I was concerned that his office was over an hour away, but all correspondence was through phone or email. We had done our homework in hiring a certified flooring inspector, getting several written estimates detailing itemized costs, and in communicating (exclusively through email) with the builder for 6 months to try and get the issue resolved without legal help, so were confident in our case. Our hope was to also get the builder to cover the cost of inspection and legal fees, but in the end paying those costs was well worth getting the problem property resolved. I would absolutely recommend Mr. Linville and his firm to a friend, though I hope to not have to use him again. He has gained my respect again when I called to see if we could hire him to help us with a real estate transaction, and he referred us to another lawyer after explaining that he (wisely) sticks to his specialty.

I prepare taxes for small businesses. As such, I have referred Dave to my clients for more than 5 years now. He has proven to not only possess the qualities above but he has also proven to be affordable relative to the amount of work he does.
I have used him MORE than five times on significant issues. Only one made it to a hearing and Dave prevailed on that one too. What I appreciate about him the most is that he is candid about what he knows and what he does NOT know. I will continue to refer my clients to him.

David has recently helped me form 2 construction companies, and work through the process of getting everything setup. His knowledge and expertise has definitely made this an easy process for us! David was always prompt with responses, and provided his valuable opinion while working through everything. He has many templates that can be used for creating contracts, etc., but then was open minded and assisted us with customizing each one to meet our specific needs.

We have worked with David Linville for several years and have found him to be knowledgeable, accessible, responsive, and easy to work with. During particularly difficult times we have appreciated his hard work, expertise, and sense of humor; the levity has helped to lighten things up. We have great confidence in David, continue to work with him, and would highly recommend him to anyone in the construction industry.

David Linville has been our business lawyer for 2 years. He assisted us during a tremendously difficult time for our company and within our life. After a very large commercial job we were hired on as a sub-contractor did not pay, David navigated the process in helping us collect payment. This was not a simple case , it was multi-faceted involving a government job, multiple parties, and many twists and turns along the way. David was a true professional and a true friend during a stressful time in our life. He responded quickly to case matters as well as emails & was sharp with the decisions he made when dealing with the other party. Most of all, he was honest and tremendously fair. David is not only a great lawyer, but a great person...a very rare thing in life. I will always be grateful for the support and confidence he provided us while going through our proceedings. He certainly went above and beyond to assist us with this matter! I cannot say enough good things about him and his practice.

When my husband and I found ourselves in need of an attorney for some construction industry issues David came highly recommended. In the 6 months or so since we began working with him, I've known him to be professional, very knowledgeable, and above all I know that he's advocating for us all the time. While we know he has many other clients, I am always able to get a hold of him when I need to and he treats me as if I'm his only client. Whether you need help with contracts, client disputes, or anything else I would highly recommend David.

As a company we have partnered with David for the past 8 years. David has helped us comprehensively on Washington State Lien Law situations. David has a tremendous amount of experience in this area and has provided expertise time and time again that allowed us to be successfully paid from our customer.
David has also helped us from a contract and procedure perspective. We operate more efficiently and effectively today as an organization because of David's input and guidance.
We highly recommend David Linville as your next lawyer of choice.

We've been using the Linville Law Firm, and David Linville specifically for a number of years, mainly for collection matters (contractor bond suits). He's always on top of things, and I don't have to worry about balls being dropped like I've had with a couple of collection agencies I've stopped using.
