State v. John Doe Defendant

Practice Area: Criminal defense

Outcome: Dismissals and Not Guilty Verdicts

Description: State charged college student with several offenses including violations of a no contact order, witness tampering, assault with a deadly weapon, and felony harassment. Prior to trial, the defense successfully argued that the weapon was discovered in an illegal search and should therefore be suppressed and also that the evidence underlying the no contact violations could not be authenticated and therefore was inadmissible. The Court agreed and these counts were dismissed prior to trial. After two weeks of trial, a jury found the student not guilty of the assault with a deadly weapon count and not guilty of felony harassment.
