DO NOT HIRE ! WORST ATTORNEY EXPERIENCE EVER!
*****READ BEFORE HIRING THIS LAW FIRM!!!!****** In november I contacted the Dubin law firm about a car accident case that happened out of state. Mr. Dubin called and SEEMED quite knowledgable about the situation, asked if I was willing to litigate if necessary. I advised Mr. Dubin that the compan...
I have thought long and hard about how to answer this review, which was left on multiple sites and directories. Clearly this person is very angry, and despite my repeated explanations, he is not satisfied. As an owner of a small business committed to providing a high level of customer service, I am deeply concerned by this review and the feelings it reflects. Additionally, I take my reputation, including my online reputation very seriously. This is no trivial matter to me. So, I have asked myself, what did we do wrong in representing this person, and how can we learn from this experience to do better? The answer I have come to, after long reflection, is we didn’t do anything wrong. Perhaps this person simply doesn’t understand the situation despite my multiple attempts to explain. I am confident we did everything we could do. Based on this conclusion, I will not be paying this reviewer the $5,000 extortion money he has demanded. I don’t pay for good reviews, and I will not pay to have a bad review removed, even if I believe it is unjustified. Here are the facts: This person came to me with a California personal injury claim. I immediately advised him that I am not licensed to practice in California, but I have a colleague who is, and that maybe we could work together on his case. The client agreed, and hired both my firm, and my colleague to represent him. This was completely proper and customary. Gathering this client’s medical records was difficult and frustrating. Several of his medical providers simply would not respond to our colleague’s requests for records. The client was understandably frustrated, and we did our best to explain the delays as we all worked to move his claim forward. Ultimately, due to personal reasons, the California attorney had to withdraw from the case. This left me with a California claim and no California co-counsel. I advised the client that we would send the insurance demand, which by that time had been completed, but that if the case needed to be litigated he would have to find a California litigation attorney. In response to our demand the insurance company made it clear that no offer was forthcoming. The case had to be litigated in California under California law. Again, I advised the client that I am not licensed to practice in California, and that it would actually be illegal for me to do so. I explained that I needed to withdraw from his case, but that I would cooperate with any California lawyer he found to take over his case. The case was far from the statue of limitations so there was no risk of harm to the client in changing lawyers. Ultimately my colleague from California found a lawyer to take over the case and I have shared the entire file and offered my full cooperation to transition the case. Perhaps I could have communicated more clearly as the case was moving forward, but I simply can’t think of anything we could have done differently under the circumstances. I am sorry this person is so angry, but I simply don’t know what I can do to satisfy him other than paying the money he has demanded, which I will not do. Again, we at the Law Offices of Matthew Dubin take customer service very seriously. We are human, and when we make mistakes we admit them and try to learn so we can do better next time. This is not one of those cases. We wish this person well with his new attorney.
