I was brought before a BOI because of a GOMAR that was discovered during the CW3 promotion board. After much research, I brought in Steve and he exceeded all of my expectations. I was blown away with his attention to detail and compelling arguments. It was truly an honor to watch this guy work. I'm happy to report that I was unanimously retained and was able be on the next promotion board. Because I'm a MEDEVAC pilot, Steve dug down into the history of Dustoff and learned about what we do, just so he was as prepared as possible. I give Steve my highest possible recommendation. Hiring him was the the best decision I've ever made (aside from marrying my wife).

To be charged in the military with a sexual offence is devastating. It is literally life changing Your whole world is going to be radically altered. I was falsely accused with 3 counts of abusive sexual contact by another NCO that I had been dating who made the allegation a year after the fact when she was facing her own legal troubles. I was facing possible prison, a felony record, and sex offender registration. I knew that which attorney I hired was going to be the biggest decision of my life. I chose Steve. Mr Carpenter is not afraid of the government, the prosecutors, or your chain of command. Steve goes to work for only you and he's literally going to be the only person outside of your family that you can trust. We battled the government for almost a year and a half. In the end, we submitted a Ch 10 and it was approved, charges were dropped. I walked away with a clean record, no jail, and can finally move on with my life. I will forever be grateful for Mr Carpenter.

Beginning of this year I came under investigation for an EO complaint. This complaint was blown out of proportion and became a big deal for my Brigade. They decided to push UCMJ against me for something that I did not do. I demanded a trial by court martial because it was wrong of what my chain of command decided to do. After months of waiting for a court martial, I decided that I needed to hire a lawyer to help me with my case. I've searched and talked to many lawyers over the phone. But most of the lawyers I talked to did not sound confident with my case when I explained it to them. The only one that really stood out to me was Stephen Carpenter. I felt the confidence he had when I spoke to him over the phone. He even went out of his way to meet with me for a initial consultation. When I met with Stephen Carpenter for the first time. He had fire in him and I can just tell that he was the man to help me with my case. So I decided to hire him. Having him on my side really lifted a lot of weight off my shoulders. Stephen is very professional and is a hard worker. He and his team dedicated a lot of time to my case and did a lot of research weeks before my court martial date.
On the day of the court martial Stephen was amazing to watch. I have never seen anything like this before. He was so focused and the way he argued my case was truly amazing. I was very impressed. You can definitely tell that Stephen has a passion in what he does. Especially with helping military personnel.
I was found guilty on one of the articles they charged me with. And the outcome of the court didn't fully go the way Stephen and I wanted it. We both weren't happy. But it was not over. Stephen said "I AM NOT DONE WORKING". Stephen contacted me and informed me that it would be a good idea for us to put in a appeal. I trusted his word and so he did. Stephen and his team put a appeal together that made my Brigade dismiss all charges against me. I was found not guilty of all charges! Because of Stephen and his team I am now free of all legal issues. I would definitely recommend Stephen Carpenter to anyone in military that needs legal advise. He knows the military law and knows what he is doing. Hiring him was the best decision I have ever made.

I hired Stephen Carpenter to represent me at a Summary Court-Martial. After meeting with several other military law attorney's I made the clear decision to hire him. He had that fighting fire others were lacking and you could tell he went in with a victory in mind. I'm glad I chose him, as he had all charges dropped against me. He was very professional towards myself and my family throughout the trial. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Mr. Carpenter superb expertise in military law and his firm determination in the pursuit of equal justice was awesome.
I retained Mr. Carpenter to represent my son's sexual assault and DUI cases with the Army. The local police investigated the sexual assault case and turn it over to the prosecutor. The prosecutor decided not to prosecute the case due to a lack of evidence that a crime was committed. They turn the case over to the Army. Once the Army review the case they decided to prosecute. My son was facing dismal from the service and imprisonment At his trial, Mr. Carpenter was able to prove that the Army had no witness or evidence to convict my son and the case was dismissed.
Mr. Carpenter tremendous research and tireless effort in the DUI case resulted in a rescindable of my son dismissal from the service with a General discharge to him being reinstated to active duty in the Army.
Mr. Carpenter kept me informed and up to date on all issues pertaining to my son case. I would recommend Mr. Carpenter to any military member as he will pursue all avenues for the very best result.

After reviewing Mr. Carpenter credentials, comparing them with all others in the business I decided to hire him for my brothers Army sexual assault case. I realized that sexual assault cases in the Army have been on the rise and were being prosecuted even when there was little to no evidence that a crime had occur. The scales of justice are somewhat tipped to the prosecution side in order to raise the rate of a successful cases and improve the overall numbers of the Army. The Army usually assigns those cases to experienced military lawyers (JAG officers) who are colonels and have been specially trained for those type of cases and have many years of experience. On the defense side however, they are usually assigned a Captain JAG officers that deal with many types of cases at the same time, are less experienced, have not gone and often do not have as much time to prepare for the cases as they are swamped by many other cases. It is for this reason that I knew we had to use a civilian military lawyer for my brother. We knew that my brother was innocent in all this but when it comes to sexual assault cases it is usually a he said/ she said type of thing. Throughout the whole process Mr. Carpenter not only communicated with my brother who was his client but also with me (with my brothers’ permission). He would be quick in his responses and whenever we had any detailed questions or needed any updates on how the case was developing he was thorough in his response. Being stationed overseas my brother had limited access to phones and Steve was very flexible with his time to accommodate. He, Ben Hillner (his partner), and the military JAG worked together to come up with the best defense possible for my brother. Throughout the process they were able to uncover many things about the plaintiff and her credibility was discredited throughout the numerous interviews they conducted and through trial. The jury definitely saw through all the evidence and through a great cross examination of her that she was indeed not credible. My brother was acquitted of all charges and there is no doubt in our minds that Mr. Carpenter and Mr. Hillner played a huge role in that. I would recommend both of these gentlemen without hesitation to any military member or their families. They are professional, thorough, and will fight for the best outcome possible.

Mr. Carpenter successfully defended me at my Board of Inquiry (BOI) and I was retained for future service. I can't explain in words what that meant for my Family and I. I was up against the wall for what was considered a semi fraternization case of adultery.
I decided to call Mr. Carpenter when my assigned Military Attorney's told me I basically had no shot at retention after 19 years of service. After 19 years of service I was about to be told to go home with nothing. When I called him he gave me hope from the very first phone call. He didn't guarantee me a successful outcome but to finally talk to a competent attorney was relief enough. The hard work and dedication he gave me from day one was second to none and to see him in action at my BOI was eye watering!
Stephen is a brilliant communicator not just in court but also with my family from the start. If I could recommend him to every single person seeking an attorney I would do just that. He is worth every penny and looking back I would've paid double his asking price… He's that good!
My Family and I would have had nothing without Mr. Carpenter's defense and now we get to move forward with our lives and my Military career thanks to him.
Thank you Steve! Friends for Life!

Very direct and bold in his representation on my behalf. Savvy, persistent, and unwilling to allow my leadership to screw me over. Mr Carpenter handled an assault case that resulted in retaliation, reprisal, and alienation by my entire chain of command after I reported inappropriate touching of my body by a superior officer. The officer was ultimately removed from command and the retaliation stopped.

In March of 2016 I was notified of my medical retirement. Within days of that I was informed that I had shown positive on a command urinalysis for Oxycodone. The investigator informed me that I had an expired prescription. I was then informed of the next steps, which were XOI, Captains Mast, and ASB. I immediately did my reach on the best military attorneys. Every website and phone call I made indicated that Stephen Carpenter is the best there is. Stephen is a professional in every sense of the word. He knows his way around the courtroom and know's how to exemplify the facts. He was able to find facts the command didn't think to look into and also emphasize my medical conditons. Through his hard work and diligence, my board was a no cause found for separation, unanimously. My family and I cant thank him enough for what he has done. My name has been vindicated and I can walk around with the pride I worked so hard to achieve.
Also his intern Jason Greene is phenomenal. That young man is going to make for an amazing attorney one day.
Thank you Stephen.

I retained Mr. Carpenter to represent me at an Administrative proceeding by the U.S. Navy, the potential for an adverse outcome for me was looming and due to the complex nature of my case I knew I needed a professional. Steve and his team are true professionals, they worked tirelessly preparing my case, contacting witnesses, and keeping me up to speed throughout the process. Despite the uphill battle Steve proved my case which resulted in a unanimous vote in my favor, I had great reservations with my case and truly believed we would not prevail. I have never been so satisfied with any decision as I am with retaining Court and Carpenter. I will always give my highest recommendation to anyone looking for Military legal representation and will forever be thankful to all the staff at Court and Carpenter!
