First, I am going to say what everyone says when charged with a crime. I am innocent. With that said, my advice to anyone facing a situation with the police in which you may be perceived as guilty by the police, is to exercise your right to remain silent, do not incriminate yourself, say you want a ...lawyer, and then call Mr. Matto immediately. Our justice system is a racket to make money for the government. Mr. Matto knows how to navigate around the system as best as can be expected. He was straight forward about my options, gave me his opinion, and then allowed me some time to decide which way I should go. My case was a little difficult, not because I'm special. Because we were just coming out of covid lockdowns, and every single lawyer has been slammed since, the courts as well. My indecisiveness didn't help. A case that should have taken 90 days or less, took just over a year. Mr. Matto argued my case to the judge who was very fair and knows what's going on. Mr. Matto convinced the prosecutor to remove one part of the deal I wasn't comfortable with, and he got him to allow me to take an Alford plea, in addition to a shorter deferred sentence, which will be dismissed once I've met all conditions of my deal. I just have one thing left, which will be a breeze.
