Matt was my attorney for a speeding ticket in a school zone. He was professional & answered all of my questions and concerns right away. I appreciated his respect with the prosecutor, which really helped my case. I have and continue to refer friends and anyone I meet to Mr. Knauss.

Matt represented me on two separate occasions, both of which he provided me with great service and excellent results. Matt is a very knowledgeable attorney and I would highly recommend him for any criminal or traffic related incident.

All I can say is Matt laid everything out for me. He made sure I knew all of my options. He often caught the Prosecutor and Judge off guard with the things he knew, they weren't prepared for him. I would definitely hire him again.

Matt helped us out promptly and with utmost courtesy and professionalism when we had to deal with a family member's arrest and subsequent dismissal of charges.

From the day I first encountered Matt Knauss, he took the time and interest to know my case and my issues inside and out. He went out of his way to accommodate my needs, calling me while he was on vacation, or meeting me downtown instead of at his Kirkland office when I was unable to get there. He had a thorough knowledge of the law, the prosecutors and the judges, and knew how best to guide me through the system.
He always considered my views and ideas and crafted strategy accordingly, but, when necessary, carefully and thoroughly guided me to the right approach.
He never promised the moon, and always made sure I had reasonable expectations about potential outcomes. Yet, he achieved the best possible results. Matt was a great advocate in court, an understanding counselor in preparation and a well-informed litigator.
I never want to be in a position that I have to hire him again, but I wouldn't hesitate to if necessary.

Matthew was very kind and professional and best of all EFFECTIVE in getting my case dismissed 100%. I highly recommend Matthew for his expertise and strong sense of commitment to his case. I appreciated that he listened and took the time to understand my side of the story, and was totally on my side throughout this whole painful ordeal. I owe Matthew a lot more than his fee: peace of mind and a sense of vindication that money cannot buy. If you are wrongfully charged or just looking for someone to fight on your side, CALL MATTHEW!!!

Matt Knauss was the best attorney that I have ever worked with. Matt was able to get the best possible outcome for me on a case that was very complicated with and possessed multiple variables. I was in an extremely uncompromising position that at times looked hopeless and the possibility of incarceration was high.
You will hear the word ‘Railroaded’ frequently used to describe a bad outcome in a case – an outcome worse than may have been warranted. To my understanding, this usually happens when there is a lack of quality representation or an absence of representation all together. The one guarantee I can make is that Matt will not allow his clients to be railroaded.
Matt is the consummate criminal defense attorney. There was never a court appearance that he was not 100 percent prepared. He exudes confidence because he is level headed, soft-spoken and composed. Never once did I see him get rattled which, to me, is a testament to his legal acumen and preparation. Upon retaining him, I was told not to be fooled by his ‘unassuming demeanor because he is a pit bull in court’. After working with him I can attest that to this description. Matt is the first and only attorney I have ever retained that actually approached a case like I had always envisioned an attorney would approach a case. To a layman like me, it just seemed like he actually practiced law. His approach was more than using his standing relationships with the prosecution to get the best plea. That type of situation always troubled me because I felt at the mercy of being part of larger, ongoing negotiation between the attorney and the prosecution. As bad as my situation was and as stressed as I was at times, our conversations were always about strategy and not reiteration of the severity of the case and how bad it looked. There was never a time when he was inpatient or short with me. His preparation and attention to detail makes him seem prophetic. Every time we entered court he would articulate two or three potential scenarios and how he planned to address each. He just knew what was coming and made everyone else in the court seem very predictable. To Matt they were predictable.
Matt is not afraid to press in the courtroom and always seemed to deliver a very prepared and effective argument. He does not give in and even though he likely knows the ultimate outcome, he doesn’t assume anything and approaches every hearing and argument with the expectation of winning. Based on what I saw, any opposing attorney or prosecutor better be prepared to the fullest extent because if they are not, Matt will bury them. Half-baked accusation or arguments do not work against him. Witness better have their story straight before being cross-examined by Matt because he will exploit any lies and discredit the testimony. I’ve seen him make what appeared to be the simplest motion or hearing very difficult for the prosecution because some detail of the law was not present or correct. If he believes there is good cause to continue to argue a point, he will continue to argue no matter how uncomfortable it may seem to him or the court. The little success the prosecution had in my case did not come easy because Matt made them earn everything.
The primary charge in my case was dismissed at the arraignment hearing because Matt was able to prove there was no probable cause. Another part of my case required a plea deal and his success in getting me the best possible outcome is a direct result of his relentless approach to the case. I believe the prosecution was forced to consider the amount of work and preparation that would be required to achieve any success or conviction if the case returned to a courtroom. Matt just seems smarter than everyone else in the court.
