Professionalism at its finest!

I hired David Lutz in January 2013 to handle the paperwork and court proceedings for my divorce. At the time, my divorce situation was amicable, as my ex-husband and I had already come to agreements on everything from the parenting plan, division of debts, and division of property, etc. We wrote ...everything up ourselves and I handed it over to Mr. Lutz and his staff to handle the rest. They did a great job getting my paperwork ready for signature and it was a relatively quick turn-around. Costs were low and I was happy with their service. However, when it came time for my ex and me to sign the paperwork, he decided he wanted to have another attorney look over the paperwork to make sure he was protected. Fine, not a problem. That's when things took a turn. He delayed the signing for several months and made up excuses why he needed more time to have them reviewed. Suddenly, in March 2014 he hired an attorney himself and decided he wanted to fight me for everything. What I thought was going to be an amicable divorce with a quick resolution turned very ugly and I became a panic stricken mess. Mr. Lutz and his assistant Minta were there for me every step of the way. Although I felt like there would be no end to the fight, I was assured by Mr. Lutz that he would aggressively represent me in court. And that he did. He was knowledgeable, professional, and was on top of his game. Unfortunately the judge did not rule in my favor at that hearing. There were a number of reasons why Mr. Lutz and I believed the ruling to be wrong so he suggested requesting a reconsideration hearing; which I did. Mr. Lutz quickly got back on the case and requested a reconsideration and backed up our reasons for it to be reconsidered with every WAC and RCW we could use to prove my stand. The judge agreed and decided she would hear the case in another court hearing. This is when things shifted again. Two days before the hearing, I received a settlement offer from my ex, through his attorney. Mr. Lutz helped me to reach an agreement with a CR2a so that our agreement would be bound by contract before cancelling my hearing and our settlement conference. While my case is still in the process of drafting final docs, thanks to Mr. Lutz and Minta, I am able to finally say the worst is over and I survived the most extreme emotional roller-coaster ride ever. My ex can't change his mind on the agreement and my mind is finally at ease. Mr. Lutz and his staff have been a fantastic group to work with. They kept me informed, answered probably on the upscale of a million questions, sometimes over and over again, and have been there day, night, and weekend for me. Yes, I said night and weekend. This is how dedicated this group is and I wouldn't be where I am today without them.

Family Law

I have had a good experience with Mr. Lutz and his team of professionals. They work very hard to ensure that my case is being handled in a timely manner. My particular situation was a bit of an emergency, and I was a little reluctant to seek legal advice, but I'm really glad that I chose this firm to... represent my case. I feel that they have been thorough in explaining to me exactly what is going on, and I also feel that they are very dedicated to their work. I would recommend this law firm to friends and family. Thanks, Lutz Law Firm Kim P.

Basic mistakes, overpriced

I Asked to recover expenses from my ex already incurred, Lutz didn’t submit the receipts. He made me pay over $20,000 for nothing. Handed in a document that wasn’t double spaced instead, that was thrown out. Seemed like he worked with the other attorney too much and agreed to everything they wanted. ...Did not see it through appeal. Said he doesn’t really work anymore and is retired? I want my money back.

unprofessional

I hired Mr Lutz Sept 2014 to handle my complicated divorce case. At the initial consultation he requested 12K deposit stating that it would be sufficient to take me to trial. He used this $$$$ fast, requesting another 5K before trial. After trial, he received another 7K in attorney fees awarded from ...my x-wife. After the trial, he completely ignored to follow up on order to take my x-wife off the house title or start on paperwork to work on division on 401K. BUT,he spent multiple hours (ALL APPEARING ON MY STATEMENT) to be sure his awarded 7K attorney fees paid by my x-wife on time. He also meticuliosly followed on division of our ROTH IRA that, according to his secretary, should be received by me as a check with my name on. As a deal with opposing attorney, this ROTH IRA money was deposited on Mr Lutz name in his trust account, and, without letting me know, Mr Lutz helped himself for another 8K as his attorney fee. I had to have one hour meeting with Mr Lutz demanding my pension money back telling him to file a complain with WA Bar association. Mr Lutz bagged me not to file complain, return pension money and stated he will not sew me to put lien on my house. In a few weeks, i received a letter that he IS filed a case against me for the money I "own" him. He surely worked hard to be sure he gets all money he could from opposing side, charging his client for this hard work. Taking my pension money was totally un ethical, and now I have another trial to defend myself against his allegations and unreasonable charges. DONT TRUST THIS ATTORNEY! Very unprofessional conduct!

Not all posts are what they appear. The writer of this post has contacted my office in regards to a law suite pending against him. The writer made it clear that he would remove this post if I would agree to settle his account for approximately 1/4 of what was owed. I have chosen, on principle, not to settle this account.
