Carovano v. McCaslin

Case Conclusion Date: 06.11.2012

Practice Area: Elder law

Outcome: Sucessfully fought appeal to Court of Appeals, challenging propriety of restraining order and judgment issued by trial court, and won award of attorney's fees on appeal.

Description: In the trial court, I represented the petitioner in an action brought under the Abuse of Vulnerable Adults Act, Chapter 74.34 RCW, and obtained a Vulnerable Adult Protection Order restraining the respondent from having any unsupervised contact with the protected party. I also obtained a judgment against the respondent for attorney's fees incurred. The respondent appealed to the Court of Appeals, claiming both the restraining order and the judgment should be overturned. The Court of Appeals denied both claims and awarded my client her attorney's fees for the appeal.
