Backwards thinking and did not do his job at all and lost my slam dunk case. I literally was in shock and I will never make the mistake of using him again. Honestly beware of this guy and go somewhere else.

After another Worker's comp attorney left me stranded 3 days prior to a hearing, I went to see Martin to see if there was any hope to my case. I came to the right attorney and am so grateful I met Martin and his amazing office staff. He was persistent, diligent and communicated regularly on where my case was at, which was very reassuring. When Martin was not available, his staff always provided the necessary answers I needed and ensured that I got the information needed.
Workers comp is a broken system and the only way to get through it is with an experienced attorney like Martin to help you navigate the system.
Thank you for believing in me Marty and your staff. I appreciate your hard work and the difference you made in the outcome of my case.

I hired Mr. Alvey after learning he is a top-rated workers’ compensation attorney who is highly-regarded in the medical and legal community. His small, specialized office put me at ease. I was pleased that he remained sufficiently attentive regarding my case even after his term began as President of the Oregon Trial Lawyers’ Association. He was respectful, compassionate, generous and wise. The office was technologically up-to-date. He made efficient use of time. My questions were answered fairly quickly by e-mail. He was a tactful leader and expert navigator through the system. He is a strong and practical advocate for workers. This role clearly aligns with his deeply held beliefs and experiences. He is confident, yet also kind, which allowed me to develop a comfort level in speaking with him about a difficult situation. Due to more than 35 medical appointments in which scar tissue was scraped from tendons, it became necessary to file a claim to cover medical bills, although I’ve continued to work full-time. I was found to be permanently partially disabled, due to poor ergonomic conditions in an understaffed work environment, during the recession. Mr. Alvey and his motivated staff helped me deal with SAIF and the WC system, achieving the outcome he articulated as the goal. He responsibly balanced other obligations with my case and I, in turn, respected his time. Hiring him was an excellent decision. (For clarification, I'll mention that I'm actively licensed to practice law in several states and have worked in a field other than workers' compensation. As a current government employee, I do not engage in private practice. I did not know Mr. Alvey, personally or professionally, before researching his credentials for this case and hiring him.)

I had done my research prior to retaining Martin Alvey and felt, at the start, confident in having him as my lawyer. I had understood that Mr. Alvey would be representing me in my workman's compensation claim, keep in contact with me regarding my case and respond if I tried to contact him with new information. However, I was sadly disappointed and let down. My experience was that months went by where I was left in the dark regarding my case and he would not respond to me or offer any direction as I was trying to maneuver workman's compensation. In the end, I received a certified letter from his office (one week prior to a scheduled IME of which he was aware of), informing me that he was too busy and would no longer be representing me in my WC claim. I was truly left hanging. Because of this, and more, I do not recommend Mr. Alvey. If he was too busy, he should not have agreed to represent me in the first place. And, because he did have a legal and signed agreement with me, he should have honored that agreement.

I wish to express my thanks and appreciation for all that Mr. Alvey did for me in taking care of my Workers' Compensation Claim. I know that I would not have received the amount that I did without his professional help. I felt very much at ease knowing that he did all he could with my case. I was very happy that Mr. VanTheil recommended Mr. Alvey and with the results.
Thank you again, Best Regards

My Husband and I hired Martin Alvey for a Workers Compensation issue. Out of all the attorney's that we called Marty responded immediately. It was the best thing we ever did hiring him. Marty and his staff went over and beyond what a typical law office would do for their clients. Most times when ever an attorney is involved, you are left in the dark about a lot of things, such as legal terminology, or even what is going to happen next. Marty and his staff kept us completely informed explaining in detail in layman's terms what everything meant and how it was going to work. Would we hire this attorney again? YES! Would we recommend him? YES!

Mr. Alvey is a wonderful lawyer and man, as I experienced when he represented me in my personal injury claim over a car accident that happened in November 2009. He has been responsive, always explaining the process and status, and making sure I made the decisions that were mine to make. At one point, I got frustrated that the process was taking too long and I needed a "meeting of the minds" discussion. With his years of experience and his strength of character, I learned that he is integrous, has great values, and really did "get" my case and situation. Yet he understood the other side of the equation, so he could explain their process to me as well. He also let me know when he was frustrated with the responses of the people we were opposing, which I found very helpful in managing my own level of frustration.
During my case, my deposition was taken. During the 4+ hour interview, Mr. Alvey made sure that I was prepared, breaks were taken when I needed them, he kept the opposing attorney in check, and made sure my emotions were kept as even as possible. At one point, I got upset at the opposing attorney's questions and it seemed he didn’t understand my responsibilities or losses. Mr. Alvey stopped the deposition and allowed me to get up and walk out so I could cool off as he listened to me over my upset. And he made sure I knew I was doing a good job -- which, since I'd never had my deposition taken, was a definite confidence booster.
When we discussed the money of the case, Mr. Alvey was very generous and understanding of my personal situation. He additionally represented me in court issues over third party medical bills and took care of the additional Judgments and settling of them when we finally were paid funds from the PI case. This was completely above and beyond the representation that I hired him for, and yet extremely helpful in the navigation of this whole section of my life. My PI case was recently concluded in 2013.
Besides having my respect as a wonderful attorney, he is a great man with an incredible character. He took a stand for me on my case and helped me through the entire legal process. He handled my main PI case with class, conviction and professionalism through to conclusion, as well as all the ancillary issues that came with it. I’m a fan and I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone.
