Amazing person and LAWYER!

Excellent Lawyer! Laurel Hook will definitely take care of you during a very difficult time in your life along with your family dynamics changing. - She along with her team are absolutely amazing! She definitely knows the intricacies of the divorce laws and is there to represent you to the fullest. ... She talked me off of ledges on many occasions, I came into her office terrified of filing for divorce but knew I had to and she walked me thru a very complicated process paying attention to so many details, I had no clue about. She explained her strategies to me in ways I completely understood and felt comfortable with. I finalized my divorce with confidence due to her support and knowledge. Her team is there to come beside you which I was very thankful for. If you want the best lawyer, go with Laurel Hook esp if you divorce is complicated with a business or other stuff. She truly cared about me and my kids thru this entire process! I highly recommend Laurel Hook!

Truly One of a Kind!

This woman is a gift to any family she represents. I trusted her with everything I was fighting for (my family) and she not only delivered, she was honest, she was sympathetic and she provided absolute guidance in a world of chaos and pain! She was worth every penny and then some. She is a strong ...advocate with a heart and also, importantly, not afraid to tell you the hard truths. She never treated me like my feelings did not matter, even though they may not have mattered to my case. I cannot say enough good about her. We had a three year long high conflict case that involved a transfer from another state and a lengthy parenting evaluation. Laurel Hook was my family's savior. There is not another way to put it. She was just that solid, reliable and trustworthy. She is exceptional, she is a valuable asset for your family and she will go to bat for you to defend you and your children. There is no one I would rather have spent years with on my custody battle, in an effort to protect my child. She gave me my life back and that means more to me than anything.

Top Notch Attorney

I worked with Laurel Hook and Anna Friedhoff at Stahancyk Kent & Hook and was very impressed with their professionalism, insight and skill. Laurel is a partner at the firm and is as high caliber as they come. I was constantly amazed by her level of retention and focus. She’s a busy woman who has ...heard many stories over the years but was able to remember and engage small details from the earliest stages of my case. She also has keen insight into both the patterns she’s seen before as well as the uniqueness of my specific situation. This experience and poise was a critical difference maker in the kind of strategy and execution that lead to our success. Anna was the perfect complement and a great value as an associate. She was able to track, distill and articulate several complex details no matter how turbulent the process got. She also has an innate capacity for strategy that proved very useful when negotiating with opposing council. She is an exceptional attorney with substantial legal acuity. The organization itself was also an important part of the process. SK&H has the structure and resources I needed behind me and the difference was clear when working with the lawyer on the other side of the table. Divorce is an unpleasant process and my case had an extra layer of frustration because it involved addiction. Laurel and Anna were generous with their advice, forecasting and personal investment which truly made a difference in how I navigated this difficult experience.

A true Matador in the arena of family law

Beginning, middle and (nearing the) end, Laurel and her entire Stahancyk, Kent & Hook posse answered every one of my thousands of emails, phone calls and middle of the night emergency text messages. Our family law case is insanely complicated made even more challenging because of the opposing partie...s misinformed attorneys. Because Laurel knows everyone that we've come up against and has respectful relationships with them all, negotiations have been more successful, taken less time and had something positive for everyone involved to feel good about. Every single other professional - doctors, psychologists, therapists or witness involved (and there are many in both Oregon and the U.K.) - who has had anything to do with my case was briefed by Laurel, given constant updates and treated to one of the, perhaps, two finest family law strategists in Oregon - the other is Jody Stahancyk. If you can make it happen, please do it for the well being of your entire family. Not just you and your children as her client, but everyone - the jack ass, too. You will hold your head higher from the moment she says "go", you will understand the entire process as it unfolds and your entire family will be set up to better understand the myriad moving parts on the ever evolving domestic landscape.

She will steal your money through unethical billing practices...

I used this firm (specifically Laurel Hook) to help me with a parenting time issue. They ended up "inappropriately billing" me to the tune of thousands of dollars. I've seen other clients of the firms billing statements and the same thing happened to them. In 2011 a judge ruled that they "inappropria...tely billed" me and they were ordered to pay me back. I filed a complaint with the Oregon State Bar. Almost four years later, the Bar found that Laurel Hook, a named partner in the firm had indeed "inappropriately billed" me. She was punished by the Bar, but the Bar basically let her off the hook (no pun intended) by NOT putting this on her record. How did Ms. Hook "inappropriately bill" me? She had a clerk write a two sentence letter to me and send it. She billed it to her (Hook) at her rate of (around) $300 per hour. This turned out to be a (about) $90 charge. Ms. Hook did this 18 times, and attorney Brad Miller did it 18 times, according to the Multnomah County Court. This is just the tip of the iceberg. The entire complaint can be seen by making a request through the Oregon State Bar. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
