I was referred to Jake by one of my good buddies who'd gotten into some legal trouble before. He said, "Call Jake. The dude's awesome!" So I called on the weekend expecting to get a voicemail and he actually picked up the phone. I explained my situation and he said he could meet with me that afternoon since I work long hours all week. First off, my friend was right. Jake is really laid back and easy to talk to. He didn't judge, he just wanted to hear my side of the story. He didn't try to push a contract at me or pressure me into hiring him to help me with my case. He was straightforward, honest, and told me about all of my options, not just the ones that involved hiring him.
I ended up choosing Jake to represent me that day. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. He knew the process inside and out and he helped me every step of the way. It was obvious the judge knew him. She told me right there that Jake had gotten me the deal of the century and normally the prosecutor doesn't agree to things like that. Thanks to Jake and all the work he did on my case, I was able to get the most serious charges dismissed and one of them converted from a felony to a misdemeanor. I was able to stay out of jail and keep my job thanks to Jake. If you need an awesome attorney, call him. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Jacob Braunstein is a highly skilled and very professional attorney that I would recommend to anyone. I have worked with several attorneys in the Portland area but Jacob stands above them all.

I don't even know where to begin. I was really nervous about hiring a lawyer. There are so many to choose from and I had never needed a lawyer before. But I found myself in way over my head trying to get caught back up with my debts after losing my job. I had been recommended to Jacob by a friend who had also filed bankruptcy, and I am so lucky I called. He answered his own phone, answered all my questions and never once tried to hurry me off the phone. Then we scheduled an appointment and there was no fee for meeting him. I knew once I met him in person I had chosen the best person for me. He is really laid back, but professional at the same time. He helped me understand all of my options, answered all of my questions throughout the process, and was a great support. My bankruptcy went through quickly and the meeting of creditors was a breeze because he prepared me for everything ahead of time. And his fees were really inexpensive compared to some of the other attorneys I spoke with. He really helped me get my life back on track.

First of all, it's my fault for not going with my gut feeling and stood my ground with my husband . That being said my husband went to see him about bankruptcy , we were less then 20,000, in debt. He didn't recommend consumer credit counseling or consolidation as an alternative which he also helps people with. On top of that my mother was terimal. From what I have read you should never file if you intend to inherit. My husband said he told him about my mother and he still didn't advise him to a different avenue. So yes my mother past. Once you you can't go back. I had to surrender my inheritance this all started in August, it now almost January and still don't have what was left over back., my credit it screwed even though i paid it all off.
On top of the bad advise he has only replied to me a few times and that's when I said I would go to the trustee to find out. I have never had to deal with lawyers so this would be my first experience and it has been miserable.

Jake is a really down to earth guy. He didn't treat me like I was a bother and not worth his time. Thumbs up for an honest Lawyer. He was able to work with my schedule, which meant meeting me on the weekend. Even though he's pretty laid back, he was all business in the court room. You could tell the judge knew him really well. In the end, he convinced the judge to drop all $2000 of fines the prosecutor was asking for and to give me community service. I couldn't believe it! I was able to get out of there with no jail and no fines, just community service. I recommend him to anyone who gets in trouble.

Jacob was an incredible help from start to finish. My case was fairly complex, and he was able to help me navigate the issues with his expert knowledge and experience. All of the paperwork and filings were completed quickly and any questions I had regarding the case/paperwork were answered promptly. His fee was more than fair, I didn't feel like he was taking advantage of me when I was in a tight spot. The consultation was free, and he spent an hour with me answering questions and advising me on my options. When I had to appear in court he was there, and guided me through the process as I had never been in court before. He was confident and prepared with the facts of my case. I thought he was personable, while remaining professional and always a phone call or email away if I needed him. 10/10, I will use his services again if needed and highly recommend him to anyone.

So I hired Braunstien for a criminal case, and he told me had done cases like it before, but when it came down to it, I knew the laws better than him. I am not trying to smear his name, but simply stating what happened to me. He asked about money before he ever asked about the case, which I should have seen as a red flag.
So after I showed up to my first court case, I was really anxious to know what would happen next. I told Braunstein this and he took about 20 days to respond back to me. He then got the papers from the police, which I was anxious to find out if there was anything in the reports that could help my case. He stated there was none, and he acted as though he had never even looked at them. He just seemed very unwilling to help, and I had paid him good money.
So here is the kicker. I had a final court appearance, and Braunstein had never once told me that he wouldnt be there, and I had assumed he would be there given the way he spoke to me about preparing for it. It never crossed my mind, that he wouldnt just not show up. But of course what does he do? Doesnt show up, no explanation, and here I am waiting for him. The judge even felt bad and had the court call him, as the judge couldnt believe that my lawyer would just not show up.
So based on what has happened to me, and my experience, I certainly cannot recommend anyone use Jacob Braunstein.

Jake worked hard to make sure I understood the whole process in filing my bankruptcy. As nervous as I was in the beginning, he put me at ease with his knowledge and compassion. Its hard to find a lawyer who doesn't treat you like just another client. Jake kept me informed all the way and I never had to chase him down to see what was going on. I would recommend him to anyone looking to ease the nervousness and hard choice of filing bankruptcy.

We needed a bankruptcy attorney who could help us quickly, but who could also make sure we understood what was going on with our case at all times. Mr. Braunstein always made sure we understood what was needed during the process and what would happen during the bankruptcy. We never felt like we were being talked down to and he made the whole process about as painless as possible. He even made time to meet with us on the weekend! We would recommend him to anyone in need of a great but inexpensive bankruptcy attorney.

If you are looking for a criminal defense attorney that shows integrity and respect and who will work to find the best deal for you, look no further! Jacob has saved my family. I was looking to going to Jail for a felony and Mr. Braunstein went this distance. He researched, negotiated and executed a plan to keep me out of the system. Jacob does not judge you based off of your past. He showed respect and eagerness to work with me. Jacob- you have a gift. I thank you and so do my kids. You are a blessing. Thanks for all you do sir!
