Jennifer Hennessey practices exclusively in immigration law. Her focus includes family-based immigration, waivers, and asylum law. She combines experience and legal knowledge with empathy from her firsthand experience with the immigration process. This highly personal and emotional experience inspired Ms. Hennessey to focus on an area of the law where she can reunite loved ones and help individuals identify paths to freedom through immigration.
Ms. Hennessey opened her law practice in the beginning of 2013. Her prior professional experience includes working for the Law Office of Bunmi Awoniyi (prior to law school as a paralegal and following law school as an associate attorney focusing exclusively in immigration and naturalization law). During law school, she worked as law clerk for Graves and Doyle in Boston, Massachusetts, and volunteered with the AmeriCorps program at the Catholic Social Services Immigration Department in Providence, Rhode Island. She began her legal career as a paralegal at the Law Office of David A. Martin & Associates in 2001 in Sacramento, California.
Ms. Hennessey enjoys delivering pro bono legal services. Some of her volunteer legal work includes pro bono asylum representation with the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights of the Bay Area, volunteering at naturalization workshops with the SF Pathways to Citizenship Initiative & International Institute of the Bay Area and AILA NorCal Citizenship Fair at McGeorge School of Law, presenting at CSU Chico on F-1 Rules & Regulations, volunteering at various "Know Your Rights" presentations on immigration issues, and judging at the Asylum & Refugee Law National Moot Court Competition at UC Davis.
Ms. Hennessey earned her Juris Doctor in 2009 from Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island. Prior to law school, she attended California State University, Chico, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Ms. Hennessey is an attorney licensed in Massachusetts since 2009 and is authorized to practice immigration law throughout the United States. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
