About me

Mark S. Mayfield has been representing
juveniles since 1995. He is recognized as an authority on California
juvenile law. He has  presented at 'Trading Secrets: An Insiders Perspective of How Sacramento Juvenile Justice Agencies Work' in Sacramento County. This training was for law enforcement professionals and focused on the inner workings of the Sacramento County juvenile court process. Mr. Mayfield has also assisted the California State Highway
Patrol with training new officers at their headquarters in West Sacramento. Mr. Mayfield also was a panel member presenter at the 2007 'Developing Effective Practices in Juvenile Delinquency Caseflow Management.' This seminar was attended by Juvenile Court
Judges and attorneys from across California. Mr. Mayfield gained his experience and expertise from years of practicing Juvenile Law.

While in law school Mr. Mayfield was employed by the Sacramento County Public Defender, Juvenile Division. Shortly after graduating from McGeorge School of Law and passing the bar exam in 1996, he launched his private practice. Since then, he has represented hundreds of juvenile clients, ranging from relatively minor
misdemeanor charges to serious felony allegations. He is a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association, the California State Bar, the California Public Defenders Association, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Sacramento County Indigent
Defense Panel. He has experience representing juvenile clients as well as Bankruptcy, Probate, Real Estate Transactions, and Foreclosure-related cases.

Prior to attending law school, Mark attended Long Beach State
University, obtaining a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree during his tenure there. Mark was awarded membership in the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi honor society for his Master's degree work. After graduating from college and before attending law school, Mr.
Mayfield taught young people at the high school and college levels in Long Beach and Sacramento, California. This experience provided him with invaluable insight and knowledge.

I have worked with Mark off and on since 1999. He is an excellent advocate for his clients, and he works very hard to ensure their rights are protected as their cases progress through the system. In addition to being a very hard-working attorney, he is also one of the nicest people I have ever encountered. I highly recommend him.
