I had purchased a vehicle through a small dealership and after 10 months of going back and forth trying to get the dealership to send in paper work for the finance company and DMV, I received a letter stating that they were going to repossess my vehicle. I immediately googled local Consumer Lawyers, and to my surprise Balam Letona's name popped up. My husband and I had used his services 9 years ago and he was wonderful, got us through a tough time back then, which we are thankful. Well, once again, I reached out to him and he was just as knowledgeable and professional. Answered all my questions and guided me in the right direction. Grateful for him.

Being retired and after years of saving, my wife and I decided, at Christmas this year, it was time to get a new truck as the first step toward realizing our dream 5th Wheel. Timing seemed perfect… I found a new 2016 Model truck at last year’s price – a very good deal. I asked for certification that it had the towing capability we needed to haul our intended RV. I accepted a piece of hand written paper showing tow specs on the truck that was right for the intended RV weight. Ten days later, after signing the contract and owning the truck, I found the truck was thousands of pounds short of the numbers given at time of sale. I immediately contacted the dealer and discovered they were not at all motivated in exchanging and/or providing for a more powerful truck. I felt defeated, alone and stuck in fixing this problem - we were cheated out of our Dream RV and I felt there was nothing we could do about it. I started dry searching for Santa Cruz attorneys as a last ditch effort to find consul in recourse. That’s when I contacted Balam Letona. The reviews on his website are very encouraging. After the first telecom with Balam, I knew I was no longer alone with my problem. I found a caring attorney with high integrity. In short order he crafted an official letter and I sent it, certified, to the dealer. The dealer responded immediately and we agreed for me to return the truck and they would return all moneys. There was no fuss, no court case, minimum cost - problem solved! I highly recommend this attorney for any legal issues – he is, and will remain, number one on our go-to list for legal problems.

The unlawful eviction suit I brought to Malia Powell at Senior Citizens Legal Services could not be categorized as a typical Senior Problem, or the suit’s Plaintiff a typical Senior Citizen, a career Artist/Educator. The Defendant’s decision to take the suit to a jury trial rather than settle out of Court, lead Attorney Powell to bring Belam Letona, a more experienced Trial Attorney, onto the legal team. Letona’s intelligent approach purposefully got to the heart of my story and reasons for bringing the suit. His meticulous analysis of Powell’s original broad scope casework and detailed preparation with the case’s documentation and evidence, lead Attorney Letona to present a tightly focused case in Court. He convinced a reluctant jury to produce a unanimous decision for the Plaintiff on the suit’s key question.
As a first-time-novice, innocent of legal proceedings, Mr. Letona quickly earned my trust, appreciation and respect through his passionate approach, positive attitude, direct honest communication and fiercely determined action. If asked, he will become your strongest ally.
Collaboration. Vindication. Satisfaction. Priceless.
August Bullock, Chapter 7 bankruptcy Attorney
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
I enthusiastically endorse this lawyer! He is very knowledgeable and a leader in his field. All the bankruptcy attorneys in our area consult with him when we encounter Fair Debt Collection and Credit Reporting issues. He is competent and personable as well.
Scott Maurer, Consumer protection Attorney
Relationship: Supervised lawyer
I enthusiastically recommend Balam Letona to anybody looking for a consumer protection attorney. I first met Balam roughly 15 years ago when he came to the East San Jose Community Law Center as a clinical law student. He proved to be one of the most capable students I have supervised in my twenty years at the Law Center. He was always a zealous advocate for each of his clients. He demonstrated a keen intellect, and was truly a pleasure to work with. Since graduating from law school, Balam has become well-known for achieving outstanding results for his clients. He is now one of the most respected consumer protection attorneys in the State of California. I recommend him without hesitation.
