I was needing a consult on my family law situation and he was available right away. He answered every question I had and was always thinking ahead. I was able to navigate what i needed to in consulting with him first. Not into money more than clients for sure.
A few years ago, I experienced something that I never thought I had to deal with- I discovered that I would be going through a separation. Initially, I wanted to go through this without the courts and settle matters peacefully. The situation quickly spun out of control, and I found myself in a huge custody and child support mess. When domestic violence entered the picture, I knew I had to call a lawyer, so I called Randy Hornibrook. The truth is, I didn't do much research on lawyers in Marin so I consider myself very lucky to have found Randy. He's extremely knowledgeable and grounded in family law. He understands complicated cases, and gets results.
Randy protected me and the kids, and quickly got me a great settlement without a lot of court battles. A few years later, when my ex took me back to court, Randy was there to defend my rights and not only get payments started on back child support but have the judge order my ex pay my attorney fees and costs.
In the years between my original negotiated judgment and this latest court order Randy was always available to answer questions and give me guidance, usually without charging me. It’s amazing how quickly he answers my texts, emails and calls – in a matter of minutes or seconds, even evenings or weekends. He always tells me, “Family law doesn’t just happen between 8 and 5 weekdays.” Randy understands how high emotions can run during contentious cases. Talking to friends who have used lawyers I don’t think this is the norm.
What's amazing to me is that Randy gets results while being an honest and forthright person- a true unique quality amongst lawyers. He really cares about his clients and their kids. Randy is not the kind of lawyer who will "invent" issues to move on just to make extra money. He's honest about what works and what doesn't, what the law is, and what the law isn't.
Also, I’m impressed by how meticulous Randy is. He spent a lot of time with me going over the details of my case. At first, I was intimidated about the amount of detailed questions he asked me, but after we won in court (all three times) I understood: being meticulous about the details is one of the many ways Randy wins. I’ve been to court enough to know now that this attention to detail is a rare, and it wins.
Quite frankly, I'd hate to think of what kind of mess I'd be in if I hadn't called Randy. I know that I'm very fortunate and grateful to have found Randy, and you will be too.
Contract, probate, real estate, personal injury. Family law expert for malpractice attorney.
16 years
Most family law attorneys go from college to law school or work in some legal field as a clerk or paralegal before becoming a lawyer. I bring a different experience set and understanding to family law - I did graduate and undergrad work in education and psychology, along with educational research which I published many years ago. I went to seminary and was an ordained minister for several years, with a lot of eperience in marriage counseling. I was in law enforcement and had a security business for a few years, and with the advent of the PC started a software company that did educational software and business automation software which I coded. I was a business consultant and ran small businesses for many years. This experience helps me understand areas of family law many are unfamiliar with, with a deeper insight into children's needs, business issues (which are often involved in support when one spouse owns a business). I see my role as not only ending marriages and obtaining the best results for my clients, but helping them cope with the stress of the process and assist them with building for the future and their new life.

Excellent Orator
Randy alleviated all of my concerns when he helped me reconcile my divorce of 23 years. I tried to do it myself and had gone as far as I could. Randy stepped in and finished the process. He helped me relocate my son to a better school which facilitated community for my son, which he never had. Moreover, he reduced custody and alimony from $361 per mo that I paid to X wife, to zero. He helped me achieve my goal of 50/50 custody with my son which has allowed me to be an active father and take part in my Sons day to day operations. Without Randy's help I may not of had any custody and my son would still be at a school he wasn't prospering at.
Thank you randy, for all you have done and continue to do for me. Randy has helped me see my mistakes and helped me move forward in a positive way.
Randy is a Pastor and Phsycologist as well and knows people. He has so much experience, he is always ten steps ahead, preparing me all the way. Randy helped alleviate a lot of my stress.
You will hire him after the first consultation on knowledge alone. He will educate you as well.

You did not need to respond rudely
People come on here trying to find a good attorney or even see if they have a case. With my response you didn’t have to respond if I’m looking for a free attorney then I’m mistaken but there was no need for conversation like that. My situation if you even took a minute to review. The California courts are a joke I’ve received multiple emergency ex parte‘s emergency injunction‘s moved out of the state to Utah and still the California courts pushed for a father review. No job living in a camping trailer over a nurse and a home that I had three innocent children are in this nightmare and I came on this darn website to see what my options were and you sure as heck did not make me feel better about my situation. He actually pushed me to take the time to give you this kind of review. I hope you became an attorney to help people and not just make lots of money, because I’m a nurse and I took this darn job as a nurse because I loved helping people you rethink why you became an attorney.

Response from Randall HornibrookMarch 4, 2023
Since I have no clue what you asked or how I responded, I can’t even judge whether your evaluation is accurate. You indicate I chided you for looking for a free attorney. Sorry, but that is not what Avvo is for. Judging from your attitude here, I probably responded in kind. I’m sorry if you didn’t get the free advice you were looking for, but lawyers often have to give advice clients don’t want to hear. I suspect you simply asked for help finding a free attorney & I told you that was not what Avvo is for, even in the lawyer locator.

Relationship: Worked together on matter
"I endorse this lawyer wholeheartedly and without reservation. I have worked with Randy extensively on several matters, including a trial. I have known him for fifteen years and have discussed legal issues with him frequently during that period. In fact, we have dinner approximately every six weeks for the very purpose of discussing legal issues. In the course of my thirty-six years as a litigation attorney, with extensive trial experience, and also as a mediator and adjunct professor of law, I have never known an attorney who possesses a better combination of command of the law, analytic ability, practical strategic sense, and research talent than Randy. He is a master of legal theory and analysis whose feet are firmly grounded in the day-to-day workings of the legal system and in the realm of practical application and results."
