I am Chief Counsel at Kagu9, Inc., D.B.A., Affarei, Inc., a California corporation. Affarei (www.AFFAREi.com) provides website design, graphic design, search engine optimization, lead generation, and other business services to organizations of all sizes. Because of Affarei's successes, I have had the opportunity to spend time practicing criminal, DUI, business, and social security benefits law via my law firm, Red Metric, APC (www.RedMetric.com).
As Affarei's Chief Counsel, I am responsible for managing Affarei’s broad legal needs. I primarily deal with commercial transactions, including buy/sell, intellectual property licensing, and services agreements. As a company that focuses on building relationships between companies and other companies, companies and consumers, and public benefit organizations and other organizations of all sizes, I uniquely understand the subtleties of negotiation and deal dynamics. I also manage Affarei’s domestic and international privacy initiatives, copyrights and trademarks, and other general agreements. Finally, I am responsible for Affarei's risk management protocols and compliance with all domestic and international regulatory provisions.
My business law experience was first gained before joining Affarei. Specifically, I served as Associate Counsel at Ungerlaw P.C., D.B.A. eMinutes.com. eMinutes exclusively provides corporate governance, entity formation, maintenance, restructuring, and dissolution services. While at eMinutes, I was primarily responsible for providing advice and counsel to clients seeking to form or dissolve entities. At eMinutes, I formed upwards of 40 corporations and limited liability companies and assisted in the dissolution and winding-down of at least 20 entities.
Because of my work at Affarei and eMinutes, I am uniquely aware of the legal needs of corporations, nonprofit corporations, and limited liability companies. I also have a developed understanding of corporate matters and doctrines, including board and shareholder voting, annual meeting notice and quorum requirements, debt and equity financing, and general corporate strategies and methods.
In addition to my role as Chief Counsel at Affarei, I serve on Affarei’s Board of Directors.
I obtained my law degree (J.D.) from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, which is the same school that taught many of the nation's top and recognizable lawyers. While at Loyola, I gained substantive trial and criminal defense experience when I defended indigent youths in criminal proceedings as a Certified Law Student for the Center for Juvenile Law and Policy.
I also gained significant leadership experiences when I served as the President of the South Asian Law Student Association from 2008-2010, and as the Law Student Liaison between the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California and local law schools in Los Angeles.
I obtained my B.A. in both Political Science and History with highest departmental and college honors from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where I wrote my history honors thesis on denationalizing Mexico's nationalized oil industry, PEMEX.
