I used Doug's services a number of years ago. Doug did all the necessary work to file for copyright protection on a complex database I developed. I had worked on this database purely in my spare time and when it became useful to a wide range of electric utility companies, they offered to buy it for a sizable fee. After a lengthy negotiation it was sold to the utility consortium. The good news is that Doug protected my interests so it was clear that I owned the rights to the database and as a result I benefited greatly from the sale. Doug was a pleasure to work with, very professional, and I highly recommend him.

I'm a licensed professional engineer and know what it takes to adequately describe a construction project. I have never filed for a patent before and after seeing this process through all steps leading up to initial filing, I would have to say that the patent process is quite a different experience and the issues of describing the possible variations of a utility patent are quite complex. Doug navigated and led me through these issues quite expertly, and unlike some patent attorneys, never did, and never has filed as a co-inventor. The fee up to initial filing not to exceed fee was clearly very low for the amount of time Doug invested. After initial filing, fees will go to an hourly rate. This seems like a reasonable approach that will allow me to view the feedback from the US patent office, and judge my expenditures going forward against the value of the utility patent claims.

Doug was my Lawyer in 2012 and he is currently representing me in another case. In 2012 I won my case and the judge awarded me the past due funds I believed I was due along with attorney fees. I would highly recommend Doug as he did a great job explaining how the court system worked and what information I needed to gather for my court date.
