After searching for lawyers all around Santa Barbara, choosing Mr. Makler was became an easy choice. I was charged with some excessive charges that really scared me, but Bill's inteligence, sense of devotion, and even his moral character, really reassured me he was the best lawyer I could get. He was there for me every step of the way, helping me even keep my license and going to the DMV with me as well as reducing my charges drastically. I'm happy to call him my lawyer. Never met a more devoted and hard-working lawyer, let alone person. Thanks Bill!

I chose Bill Makler based on a number of outstanding reviews online. What Bill has done throughout the last 8 months has confirmed and now exceeded my highest expectations.
I made a huge mistake. Relapsed on alcohol, drove, made a wrong turn and found myself on the property of the federal government. I was charged with trespassing, open containers, and DUI. My BAC was high and I found myself waking up the next morning in total fear and shame. The first thing I did was start searching for a reputable attorney with a proven track record. Everything I read pointed me in Bill's direction. I called and left him a message on a Saturday. 5 minutes later he called me back. He spoke with me about my case and after that first conversation I knew he was the real deal. Throughout the next 8 months, he managed my fears, replied to every email within 20 minutes, and outlined a plan of action. The list of things he did to help save my license and job could go on and on.
Bill won my DMV hearing, got my trespassing and open containers dropped, and negotiated a delayed sentencing at the federal court to help align everything with the DMV in case we didn't win. He's generous with his time and leaves you knowing your case matters.
I can't thank this man enough for his service. His entire team was great. Thank you!

I was arrested with multiple schedule 1 drugs including scales and capsules with clear indication that I was dealing. After spending a few nights in jail, I was released on Own Reconnaissance and returned home. Facing four felony convictions, a great friend of mine recommended Bill Makler after his successful case that Bill had handled.
After my first phone call with Bill, it was obvious that Bill was not going to tell me what wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear so I could have a chance to win my freedom. And to do so, I had to listen to him and trust him and I could not be more thankful.
After 11 months, of monthly court dates, with a tediously slow judicial system (that must be remedied), Bill motioned to suppress the evidence based on a 4th amendment violation. Bill came in prepared to the tee and went up against a judge, the DA and the two arresting officers. In less than two hours, the judge granted the motion to suppress the evidence and ruled, case dismissed. I don't even know how to describe the wave of relief and amazement that swept over me in that instant.
I am eternally grateful for what Bill did for me over this past year and sincerely recommend anyone who finds themselves in an unfortunate situation as I did, to call William Makler.

I had a case dealing with domestic violence. William Makler was professional, to the point, and got me the best outcome I could have hoped for (all charges dropped). He was easily accessible for questions and took the time to explain everything that was going on. I was very satisfied with his work and I highly recommend him.

After my arrest I began looking for a lawyer who could represent me, and this was no small feat. After dozens of calls with other attorneys in the area, I was directed to the office of William C. Makler. After my first phone conversation with Bill I was certain that he was best suited to help me and my situation. He was very reachable and personable and I liked his credentials. Once he began compiling my case and putting together our defense it began even more clear to me that I had made a good choice in working with Makler. As a DUI lawyer he is incredible and I can not sing his praises enough, he turned what was very nearly a crushing blow to my livelihood into a much more manageable and less harmful outcome. His due diligence and commitment to serving his clients makes him the only choice when it comes to criminal defense lawyers in Santa Barbara County.

I was arrested under a Felony DUI charge with injuries, Bill helped my case and got my charges reduced to a regular DUI and kept me out of jail! I ended up not serving any time and only doing the swap program, fines and community service. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a lawyer that will not judge you as a criminal and will be on your side. He understands that the justice system is often unfair and he will help you navigate through it.
I appreciate his help and the results he got for my case.

Bill Makler is an extremely dedicated, hard working, and intelligent attorney who will do whatever it takes to battle your case and come out with the best outcome possible, no matter how hard the case (I had a high BAC and other things going against me). I was very discouraged, worried about my future, but Bill Makler was comforting all while being realistic and not sugar coating anything. He was very quick to respond to emails and calls and explained everything so clearly and precisely so that I was always prepared and knowing what to expect. He helped me avoid trial, and after going back and forth with the DA for several months, the charges were dropped to two infractions. I was extremely pleased with this outcome and 100% recommend him to everyone.

I hired William Makler last year when I was arrested for DUI (my second). His glowing online reviews and enviable reputation stood out, so I called him for a free consultation. Once I spoke with him, I instantly knew he was the lawyer for me. He exudes professionalism, integrity, and intelligence. He spoke to me with respect and absolute honesty, making no outrageous claims as a way of suckering me into a quick bargain. In addition, his hiring price was very reasonable, even generous. I would have been a fool NOT to hire him.
Mr. Makler had no easy task taking me on as a client. My high BAC (nearly double the legal limit) and prior conviction were not working in my favor, and he made it clear from early on that we were swimming upstream with my case. Happily, with a little bit of luck and an even greater amount of skill, Mr. Makler managed to exploit various weaknesses in the DA's (and my arresting officer's) case, first winning me the DMV trial--(a tremendous victory in itself which saved my driver's license)--and ultimately winning me a phenomenal settlement in court in the form of a Wet Reckless. This supremely less dire conviction seemed an impossible dream, but Mr. Makler, capable, intelligent, and dedicated professional that he is, worked hard for over a year to see this outcome through. Along the way he kept me updated and in the loop, patiently answering all the nervous questions I threw at him. He never made me feel annoying, or that I wasn't being heard, which is a bit of a surprise considering how many frazzled and anxious clients he must experience day-to-day.
In the end, Makler handled my case with the care and conviction that I hoped for but wasn't necessarily expecting in my DUI lawyer. His expertise in the legal field saved my skin. Two DUI convictions in 10 years would have been devastating. To have that second DUI turned into a Wet Reckless, and not lose my license to boot, was such a wonderful and unexpected gift. And I owe it all to this lawyer, who is not only a first-rate professional but also a really kind and decent human being. After making the worst decision to drink and drive, hiring him was without a doubt the best decision I could have made. For those of you who are looking for legal representation, trust me, you want this man fighting in your corner. I will always be grateful to him for his incomparable work.
